Hello, i had a great preop today but unfortunatly my PS reccommened a lift with my BA. I didnt even think i needed one but i guess i do. so i followed his advice to get one. I am so afraid of that scar that goes all the way up. can any one give me any insight??? is it really that bad? does it hurt more than a regular BA?

Aline21,
I had a BA 3 years ago without a lift (which I should have had). As time went on, the weight of my saline overs weighed my breasts down even more. Last week, I had my implants removed and a BL done. In three months I will have "gummy bear" cohesive gel implants. You might want to get a second opinion first BUT, if you need a BL now, then getting a BA without a BL is not a good idea. It will just add to the problem. The BL prodecure is not as bad as it sounds. I had it done last Thursday and took pain pills through Saturday. Now, I'm only taking one pain pill before bed...and that's a "just in case" pill There are several girls here that have had a BL and BA in the same procedure and did fantastic. I couldn't do that only because I will be part of the 410 case study for gummy implants. There is a stipulation that you must not have prior implants for at least 3 months. Let us know what you decide to do. Best of luck to you!!Judy |

I had a BL with my BA. I'm assuming you are getting an anchor lift. I would get a second opinion. The first PS I had a consult with told me I needed an anchor lift. I didn't think I needed that type of lift. The second PS (and the one I went with) told me we could do a benelli (donut) lift and not have the lollipop scar. I am SO HAPPY with my results and I am so glad I went with my instincts and got a second opinion. Having said that, you may need an anchor lift, but at least if you have a second opinion and he/she tells you the same thing, you'll be able to rest easy knowing that you did all your homework. Since you say that you didn't think you really needed a lift to begin with, I kinda think that you don't need an anchor lift. JMHO.
BTW, there is a link to my yahoo group if you'd like to see pics of my BA/BL. It's in the private photo gallery forum, or you can PM me if you'd like and I'll send you the link. |

Breast lifts
There are many different breast lifts depending on your degree of sag. If you didn't think you needed one than you may be able to get away with one of the "lesser" lifts like the Benelli (or donut) lift or the crescent lift. There is also the lollipop lift and the full anchor lift. If your PS is telling you you need a full anchor lift I would seek out a second opinion. I had a Benelli with BA the first time around and the only difference was it added 2 weeks to my wearing the surgical bra (8 weeks instead of 6). I was not in any additional pain, and the stitches were not bad coming out. Let me know if you want more info. XOXO Love, Lizzie

Of the 3 consults, 1 PS assistant recommended a lift. The 2 other PS did not. My PS chose to provide a lift through the use of a round HP implant.

Here is a link with some pics of full anchor lifts and benelli lifts. The anchor lift and the lollipop lift are 2 different things. I was wrong in my PM. It's been a long day. LOL!

I had a lift (not an anchor) with my BA. I could have gotten away without one, however eventually I would have wound up having to go back in for one to get the look I wanted. You should have a 2nd, 3rd or 4th opinion! The first PS I saw told me to get an anchor, and the 2nd & 3rd said a donut would do the trick. I am very glad I had the lift. As for the pain & recovery...I don't think it was any more than a regular BA. I had a pain pump (which I highly recommend - well worth the money!!).
Good luck to you!! |

I just had my 3rd BA and got an anchor lift with it yesterday. The pain is actually not so bad. I haven't seen my girls yet but will see what they look like tomorrow. I will be posting updates on my yahoo group hopefully this week. If you are interested in seeing my progress pics PM me and I will send you the link.

What kind of lift is he suggesting? My first consult said I needed an anchor lift and the 2nd said I needed a crescent lift. I went with the 2nd PS and the crescent and l'm glad I did. I'm very happy with the results. If you don't have much droop or sag, you can probably get away with a crescent lift which leaves virtually no scar. I would definitely get another opinion if he's is suggesting a bigger lift.

I am also having to get a lift. I have a ton of tissue under the nipple but non on top. My breast are pretty heavy. I was so upset when I found out I was going to have to have a lift. The scars look horrible. But my PS said that I would eventually sag with as big of an implant she would have to put in without the lift. After thinking for 2 months I decided the scars were worth it to not have saggy boobs!!!!!! So I am glad to hear it won't be as bad as I let me mind think it will be.

Hi
I did not think that I would need a lift so was a bit shocked on my 1st consultation when the ps said I would need to have a lift. He wanted to do an anchor lift but I really did not want the scar that goes with it. I had a 2nd consultation and this PS said he could do a benelli lift. I chose the 2nd PS and had my lift and BA 6 weeks ago. I am so thrilled with the results and my incisons look better every day. My PS has told me that he is hopefull for me to have invisible scars within 6 months. TThe pain wasnt too bad you just need to take your meds and look after yourself. I would do it again because the results are worth it. I think it is important to get a 2nd opinion and not all ps's do all proceedures so it may be that your ps does'nt do benelli or crescent lifts. Good luck hope all works out for you. Hugs |

I was also told I needed a full anchor lift, but because I am so asymmetrical it would only be on the right side.
I am sooo nervous because, I really want to be symmetrical and doing a lift on one side and two implants, with totally different ccs, how can she get them even and symmetrical? How weird will it be with scars on just one boob? I am glad to hear your scars are healing well! It does give me some hope that I am making the right decision! Good luck to all of you with your BA/Lift!!

I would suggest the same thing, do your research and have several different opinions!!! Trust me, if you find the right PS, scars will not be an issue. Go take a look at www.blackhawkplasticsurgery.com and check out the brestlift photos I am not in there yet but will be and my doctors work is amazing. so ladies RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!! Hugs and kisses and GOOD LUCK!! |

Two PS recommended the Benelli, one said he'd only do Lollipop. I did not want the scar. I had Benelli lift with BA. I'm 20 days out. At about 14 I was feeling pretty much OK. I wouldn't know if this hurt more than just a BA but it was bearable.
