when do you need a lift and when is a ba enough?
my boobs have always sat a little low - they're not really saggy, just low and not very full (I was a fat kid and stretched 'em out during puberty). will my ba give me enough lift by filling the girls out? or will I need a lift too? anyone had any experience with this?

It's hard to say without seeing your boobies. Have you had your consult yet, that should really help! I had the Lollipop Lift with a BA. I always had a nice full C to D cup, but after up & down weight issues, my boobs finaly gave up and headed south. I am so pleased with my results. I'd say see what your PS has to say and go from there. Sorry if I wasn't a ton of help!

My (bigger) leftie was saggy from pregnancy/nursing but my PS said the nipple-collarbone distance was within normal range, so the BA would be enough. I am still waiting for my implants to drop -- the leftie is lumpy at the top and the nipple is still pointing south, whereas the rightie looks round and perky. He says the implant will drop and this will lift the nipple. I can't tell yet whether he is right or not. He said if I need a lift post-BA I can get one without redoing the implant. |

I had no way of knowing whether the pro-lift or anti-lift camps were correct. They were all very prestigious and experienced plastic surgeons and all specialized in BAs. I don't know if this matters, but the anti-lift PSs were going to do full unders, whereas the pro-lift PSs wanted to do partial unders. Maybe that's why? Pro-lift: you won't have to worry like Anne and me about whether the bump will settle. Anti-lift: it's an extra surgery and extra scarring (maybe minimal or nearly invisible, I don't know), and may not be necessary if you are within normal collarbone-to-nipple range. Anyway, good luck with yr research |

I googled breast lift at some point and found some PS's webiste that had it but I've lost the address. It's something around 17-23 cm but that's not right so maybe if you google it you can find it. But measuring ourselves is sometimes iffy and PSs may still have different opinions. Ask your PS when you do your consult! Good luck!

Hey there! My PS suggested I get a lift because he says if the nipple is lower than your crease a BA will not make matters better, possibly worst.
If I didn't get a lift I could have big boobies, however, my nipple would be low. I didn't want to risk that so I opted for the lollipop lift and my girls are fabulous. It's a big decision. I was a sagging baby D cup, and now, well check out my stats. I am sooo happy!

Oh, I had not thought about the possibility of nipples being lower than crease!
LOL unlike you my boobs were not big enough that they could physically bring my nipples that low -- no matter how saggy they got. I feel more secure about not getting a lift now. Thanks, Jessica.

Hmm... in the nipple/crease test I'm borderline. I guess I'll see what the ps says when I finally go for a consult.

Denese, my PS said the same thing about my saggy leftie.
He said when the implant drops it will perk the nipple up. Hasn't happened yet, early days at 7 weeks post op. Do you have any progression pics? If so, will you post or pm me your link? I would love to see them!! |

I has something to do with how far the nips are from the collarbone and how far below the areola is from the crease. One ps held a pencil underneath my breast, at the crease, and my areolas were lower than the pencil.
I also went on 4 consults and they all said I needed a lift, although they all had a different opinion on the type of lift. (1 for a binelli, 1 lollipop, 2 full "anchor" type lift). I got the latter. You should go on a few consults and you'll have a better idea which one is better for you.

My PS measured my collar bone to my nipple. I guess there's a range of centimeters it should be, and mine was on the high end. It's an option for me and I am choosing to get the lift. I would be really disappointed if I got my implants and they were big & full but hanging low! Have your PS (if you have one) measure you.

borderline also
Magentasky,
I hear you! I have tossed this around myself for months. Back and forth, back and forth. I am borderline in need of a lift also. My 34b/c deflated breasts sit with nips right at the crease line, but I do have significant tissue below the crease as well. My PS was absolutely baffled as to which direction to take. Hoping he's good enough (he's got 20+ years of experience) that the implant will pick up that breast tissue just fine. My PS, hubby, and I have decided to go for the BA only (unders). Part of what we were also considering is the price cost effect. I might not need to spend the extra 5-7k for the lift. The other factor is that my PS believes that he gets best results with breasts when he does them in two segments, first the BA then the lift. When they are already dropped and fluffed he just gets better results. So if I do need a lift post-op, the positive is it might turn out better if I had had it done all at one time.I still worry about a snoopy boob or a double bubble a bit--that still haunts me somedays, but at my pre-op my PS still confirmed he thought BA first was best. I have to step with confidence now that we made the best choice at the time with the information we have. These are hard decisions and we so want the right one. I also tried to find pictures online that looked that me. Others with similar breast and then I looked to see if the did a BA only or a lift also. This helped me decide. I wish you a smile at the end of the boobie rollercoaster!

3 Consults =
Ladies,
You may or may not know that Dallas has tones of PSs. My 1st consult was w/ the asst of a well known PS who specializes in the lift. She recommended that I have one. I met with 2 actual PSs (1 of which I have chosen) and neither of them made reference to the need for a lift during consultation. While I chose my PS primarily for his advancements in TT, after participation in this forum, I am thoroughly reviewing his BA experience. Thanks for openly sharing your experiences.
