Benelli Lift

I'm going to be getting a benelli lift in November. I was wondering how bad the puckering is on this type of lift? Does anybody know?

I had no puckering. When they described purse string stitching I was horrified but mine are just fine. I do have numbness and I am almost 3 months PO. Feel free to ask me anything.

My puckering right now isnt pretty....but I am only six days post op. Also, I brushed my nipple today while doing my massages, and was TOTALLY shocked to find that I could feel it! And not that I was feeling myself up or anything, but if felt good! It didnt hurt, just normal! I was sooooo excited because I expected not to be able to feel anything for a long time!

Lisa, how long before you had sensation? I know you told me it was a while....

I have some sensation in my left and NO sensation in my right. It sucks!! Both boobs are numb on the underneath side. I read today in the ask a surgeon section that if you don't have feeling back within a year it is probably permanent.

I had a benelli lift in March. I am 6 months post-op now. I had some complications, in that my body rejected the permanent sutures that you get with a benelli. (the purse-string stitch). It's rare, but it does happen. All of this happened at 3 months post-op. I had to have them removed, so I can only tell you about my experience up until 3 months post-op. My areolas were a little puckered, but I didn't mind. I was so happy to have smaller areolas that the puckering didn't bother me. I had read that the puckering goes away for most people, but I never got to experience it. It varies by person, though, I'm sure. What some experience, others won't.

I didn't have any numbness. I had really sensitive nipples/areolas for a few weeks, but then everything went back to normal. I have full-feeling in both breasts now.

Thank you. It was a tough thing, emotionally to deal with. Why did it have to be me that it happened to, KWIM?

I doubt I will have them put back in. My PS told me that he would not use the same suture on me again, since my body rejected the stitches in both breasts. My body would most likely reject them again.

He said we could put the stitches back in, but the other option for sutures is a suture that is more like fishing string(the other one was a braided stitch) and it has more of a tendency to pop than the other stitch. You can also see the knot under the skin, more so than the other type of suture. You couldn't see the knot with the first suture, but I did have puckering. If I did choose to put the stitches back in, using the 2nd type of suture, it would be a one time shot. If my body rejected them again, then that would be it. He wouldn't do it again. I totally agree with that.

I have another option, if I choose to do it, and that is to reduce my areolas without using a stitch. But, there is also a chance that the skin will stretch out again. I don't know what I want to do. I still don't like the look, aesthetically of my areolas. I'd like them reduced, but I am also very happy that I am healed up and things are fine. I can sleep on my tummy with no issues. I may just wait a while. My PS thinks that we will probably need to tighten up the left breast anyway, as it is a little droopier (his words) than the right, now that the stitch is gone. He said it may be to our advantage to even wait a year or more. We'll see. I'll keep thinking about it and see how I feel in a couple of months at my next visit.

Thanks for asking.
