Breast implants with full anchor lift
My ps recommended that I have an anchor lift with my breast implants. He also recommended me to do that at two seperate times. He wants me to do the lift first, then six months later, the breast implants. I do not have time to do that because I have a very demanding job and I have a baby I cannot have someone watch for that long two times. He said he will do the procedures at the same time, but cannot guarantee me the results that I would get if I did them seperately. Can I get some opinions and has anyone ever done those two together before?

You should get more opinions from other PS. I'm getting a donut lift and silicone implants at the same time in November. I don't understand why you need to wait. I see a lot of woman here that get it done at the same time.

Yeah I'd ask either why that is or consult with someone else. Lots of women have that done at the same time as their BA. Full anchor too? It almost sounds excessive based on your age, size and one child. (but this is a total presumption on my part, of course
)

I agree with ladies, it also sounds like you will have to pay more. I'd definatly get a second opinion...good luck

Sherry,
My PS sounds exactly like yours, initially he wanted to do the lift and then go back in like 4 months and do the implants, but he was willing to do them at the same time (but really did not want to). I questioned his motives for why specifically did he recommend doing a staged procedure and he said it was because doing them at the same time I was asking the breast tissue and skin to try and do two things at once (shrink and stretch). Thus, my results might not turn as great. To make a long story short, we are doing both at the same time. In exchange for this, he is being given a bit of freedom in the OR as far as implant placement (overs vs. unders) to get the best possible result. For me doing a staged procedure was just not an option both financially and emotionally. If I hadn't been able to talk to him and work through this, I would have found another PS. Hope this Helps. Good Luck to you. |

I had this done 4 weeks ago. When I went for my preops, the doc never suggested doing them at seperate times. And I had stage 4 ptosis, severe sagging. So I had the full anchor lift and 450 HP put in at the same time. Now since this is my first BA/BL, I can't tell you if it would have been easier to do it seperately. But I found that doing it at the same time, the first week was tough. But after that, it got a lot easier. And now, no problems. But I find myself overextending- doing more than I should. So far, I have been happy with my results- let us know how it goes

I'm one year post today from having the full anchor lift and BA at the same time....I don't know for sure but I think I had more swelling than if I had just had the BA... I wold suggest that if you have them done together to make sure you ice them down for the swelling so you don't develope new stretch marks like I did. I had mine done on a Tuesday and Friday I was shopping and trying on new tops.... I was slow but not in pain...more like when you over exercise.... I only took one week off work to. If this doc won't do them together I would go to another doctor.
Good luck on your decision. |

Anchor Lift
I had a full anchor lift with implants under the pec muscle all at once. (I never heard of them wanting to do them at seperate times) I was so terrified about the scars but I have to say i have had them for 6 months and the boobs are ridiculous..........in a good way. The shape, size and scarring is amazing! They are so perfect. I was a 34b and now Im a 36 full c 400 mentor saline and I love them.Good luck and getmore opinions!

I wasn't expecting that.
I just told him what look I wanted and he recommended what was best for me.

In a perfect world where your time and money are completely irrelevent to this surgery, yes..it would be preferrable to do them separately. The weight of the implants do put extra pressure/stress on the T point of the anchor lift incisions, and it's not unusual for women to experience "holes" in their incisions...basically the pressure/weight of the implants causes the incision to separate there because that is the most vulnerable point/area of the lift.
The women I've seen this happen to usually say it's not painful, (the holes), but it is pretty awful looking and requires extra time, patience, and diligent hygiene and care to make sure they close up w/o developing into necrosis, (due to lack of blood flow to the area), and to try and keep the scarring from them at a minimum. So... If I were you I'd try to do them separately, but if that's just unreasonable due to money, children, time off from work, etc..then just make sure you keep the breasts well supported afterwards and DO NOT over do it, even if you feel no pain. No bathing/swimming either until the incisions are definitely closed and healed. Hope that helped

I have never heard of docs recommending getting it done at two separate times. I just had a full anchor lift with silicone implants. Yes, recovery is harder. But, I only had to do it once. It has only been 7 days so I am not sure of the complete outcome yet, but like you...I have a demanding job and it was very unrealistic to have the procedure done twice.
My opinion personally...I am sure your doc is great and competent. I am not doubting his abilities at all. before I had my surgery I saw 3 other plastic surgeons who all recommended getting it done at once. I don't think it's unrealistic and I would question why he doubts the finished product wouldn't be up to par. I know what it is like to LOVE your PS. But, sometimes we just need a few consults with others and you will find another you Love. It's tough because we get impatient and just want it done. But, you have factors you need to consider and it would be worth it to you to find someone who believes you can have it done in one procedure AND be happy with the outcome. I hope I didn't step on your toes at all, that wasn't my intention. Just want to help.
