Question Told I NEEDED a breast lift too

Ladies, I had my first consult yesterday. The plastic surgeon told me that I NEEDED a lift, which of course added to the cost (I am now at $10,275, not including the cost of the doc that puts you under ). Have any of you been told that you needed a lift and went without it and feel good about? Or do think I should just follow her advice?

I was thinking about geting another opinion. What do you ladies think?

I went to 4 doctors and only 1 told me I needed a lift. I would visit with another doctor.

I went to four PSs. Two told me the leftie needed a lift. The other two said I did not.

I went with one of the non-lift doctors. At two months post op, my leftie is still saggy, and the jury is still out on whether it will need a crescent lift.

I took a chance and went without a lift. I, like Anne was not ready to have scarring. I'm lucky that I feel great with the result. I think it depends where your nipple is sitting in relation to your crease. If your nipple sags below the crease, you should probably get a lift. Try to find a set of before pics that are similiar to yours, and see if they required a lift. Hope this helps!

The PSs who said I "needed" a lift said that, if I got an implant without a lift, the implant would sit slightly above the breast.

That is exactly what it's doing now two months post-op -- causing a "roman nose" effect in profile on that breast.

If the implant drops enough, that will go away. If not, I will have to get a crescent lift in order to create a natural looking breast shape.

HTH.

My plastic surgeon recomended a lift...he said if we put the implants in there all that would happen is I would be bigger but still saggy...maybe even worse. I went for it and am so glad I did. I kinda thought I would need one anyways, I had large boobs to begin with but after weight loss I lost all the mass to them, they just became extra skin & pointed south I hated them. Maybe get a second consult in to see if someone else has a different view!

I would say you should go on another couple consults. That way you may hear something from one of the other plastic surgeon's that totally makes sense to you. It may help you make a determination as to whether or not you want to get the lift or not. For you It's hard to know at this point what your breasts would look like with or without a lift. Sometimes it takes several opinions before you see a thing more clearly.

With me my plastic surgeon said I was borderline lift. But I had other issues, my crease was dropped, I had tuberous breasts, there were so many things for my plastic surgeon to deal with I felt that I should get the lift because there was a high chance I would have double bubble. And if I waited, I would have been an extra $4,000. So I opted to 'do it right the first time'. Hope that helps...

I say always get a few consultations. i went with the plastic surgeon that actually recomended getting a lift that would leave a lollypop scar instead of the 2 other plastic surgeon that recomended a cresent lift (scar only around nipple). My nipples not point straight forward and my breast have projection. I PASS THE PENCIL TEST FOR ONCE YEAAYYY!!!!. Get a second, a third, a forth if you have to. Id take the scar over a droopy breast or low nipples again in a heartbeat. But go get another opinion also, in my opinion.

I was told I needed a Level 3 lift. My plastic surgeon said if I didn't get the lift My BA would look like a tennis ball in a sock. So I did decide to do it. I was shocked and upset that I would need one, but after having 5 kids and taking into account my age, I figured I might as well do it now then be sorry later. Also, he said he would not do the BA without the lift because it would not be a good outcome.

I think another opinion would be a great idea. All surgeons will have different ideas and skills to help you achieve the goal you are looking for. It's important that you agree with their approach. However, if you really need a lift and you don't get one, you may not be happy with the outcome. If money is the only obstacle, it might be better to wait and save the money before going ahead.

Same boat...different captain!

Betting different plastic surgeon's...however, I was in the same boat...totally shocked at the lift recommendation and cost diff. Great friend of mine is an MD...interventional surgeon and recommended a second opinion as did Nikki on my original post as did others.

My friend, MD, said don't let cost be an option if you can help it! Second opinion...if the nipple is below the line...get the lift or you may end up with your breast hanging off the implant and further costs down the road. I am going for the crescent on 12/21! Small scar is worth the perk... I agree with the others. Good-luck!

My plastic surgeon surgeon told me a I needed a life also, but I am like Goldy, I have so many problems with my breasts{I'm an A cup and they hang down lower than my knees }, that there really was no other option, unless I wanted double bubble, and REALLY un-natural breast... But I agree with the others, if it is possible for you to get a 2nd opinion I would try for that, see what they say and go from there... What ever you do though, good luck to you...

I would go on more consults, make sure you get more opinions.
I was told I needed a full lift, and I am glad I did it. The scars are healing very nicely at 1 month post-op and I don't think I would have been happy with the shape of my breast without a lift.

Well my second consult told me the same, but in a nicer, more believable way. So, I am going to get it done.

Reese

I posted to you in another thread re cc size and my lift. Went to two consults the first said that I had ptosis (was saggy) and therefore wanted to put the implants over the muscle to prevent double bubble (he also called them titties) My second consult suggested the wider implant and therefore less incision to fix the sagginess.

My incision scar is minimal and I'm so glad I did it. To me it saved me from more trouble and expense later. The crescent lift only added $725 to my surgery and the total was $5700. Our situations sound very similar as are our stats. I would definitely recommend it.
