hi ladies,
i booked my surgery in january and have to wait all the way until august to have it! the wait is killing me and the longer i wait the more questions i get! anyways, i am going into the surgery a 34A wanting to be a big B/tiny C. I also have herniated areolas. not exactly tuberous breasts as the actual shape of the breast is very round but just very very very puffy areolas. i guess i look pointy and pre-pubesant if that explains it a little better. anyways, my PS will be doing a donut mastopexy in order to tighten the areola to flatten it so it is not puffy anymore (WHOO HOO!) this is actually the main reason i am having the surgery but decided some size wouldnt hurt either. my question is about the healing period to the areola (my implant will also be inserted here). i have heard this takes longer to heal with the donut mastopexy and also that there may be some puckering for a few months. what exactly will this look like? does it happen becasue that ring of tissue is missing? any input would be so much appreciated! i dont have any sag whatsoever if that helps, it is just to flatten the areola. sorry for the long question! and thank you in advance!! |

Hi There
The scars/puckering did look pretty scary to start with, but my PS wanted me to keep the scars taped up for 2 months, to keep puckering to a minimum and help the scars heal flat. After 2 months I took the tapes off, and no puckering! They were a little red, but for the last week or two I have been using a scar cream and the redness have nearly gone, and I have a really really fine white line around the aerola - you cant see it unless you really look close. I am totally delighted with the proceedure!!! Good luck! ATB Nic

The pukering comes because when you remove the circle of tissue you end up having to sew one small circle to a larger circle-cut out. It's like sewing a frill on a skirt - you have to pleat it a bit to make it fit the hem.

well i guess i can survive with a little puckering at first as long as it goes away. my PS wants me to wear the tape for 3 months straight and then scar stuff after that. thanks for answering!

Hi there Havoklady!
I know you posted quite a while ago, and it looks as though you just had your surgery a couple months ago... just wondering how everything went??? I read your first post, and your story is EXACTLY the same as mine. The puffiness of the areolas is really my only REAL problem and concern. I will be scheduled to have breast augmentation as well as the donut mastopexy in 2 weeks! Would you mind if I asked you a few questions about how things have turned out for you so far?? (I can't figure out how to e-mail you personally-- still very new to this site!). Thanks!! |

Thank you havoklady!! I am so excited to have found someone that has already gone through the EXACT same issue that I am going through right now! From your profile, it looks like you even had the exact same idea on how big you wanted to go too! I'm also looking toward a big B, very small C. Thanks for the encouragement
have you found that any of the "puffiness" of the areola has returned at all?? Thanks! |

HI Tampa,
I'm trying to imagine what this whole "pucker" thing looks like. Do you happen to know of any sites I could visit for examples??? |
