Mastopexy?
So I had my pre-op yesterday and my Dr. measured me and said I may need a mastopexy. My left nipple is 2 cm's lower than my right. He said I could maybe get away without getting one but it COULD look a little off. Has anyone been told they may need one but didnt get it? Is it really gonna be noticable if I dont get it? I'm already spending 6,000 on new boobs this will bring the cost way up and I'm on a budget. HELP!

2 cm, what is that in inches? My left was 1.5 inches lower then my right. I am over a month out, and they look amazing! I didnt have to have a mastopexy. The nipples are straight across from each other, you can't tell I had a problem before.

My ps told me that I had 'borderline' breast lift boobies. One nipple is slightly lower than the other and I have a bit of ptosis (droop) due to breast feeding. I decided not to go with the lift. I haven't had my ba yet, but I'm confident that I made the right decision.
Your difference doesn't sound like enough to warrent a must have lift. It may look a little more symmetrical if you do get the lift, but, remember, no woman is perfectly symmetrical. Good luck making your decision! |

Thanks ladies! 1 inch = 2.54 cm's so my left nipple is a little less than an inch lower. I really dont want to have that scar around my nipple. I dont think I'm going to go with the mastoplexy. I guess I'm lower on the left because i breastfed there more.

Admittedly, I don't know as much about getting/needing a lift as many of the girls on here do, but when I look at before and after BA photos, I often wonder why some women didn't go ahead and get a lift. Sometimes the implants make the difference even more noticeable. If it's only a slight droop, he may be able to do the crescent lift, which is only an incision around the nipple, not all the way down the breast, and I've seen lots of those incisions that heal up beautifully.
I would think that with the weight of the implants, in time your breast will only droop more, and you may require a full lift to perk it back up. If you get a small lift now to even them out, at least if they do both droop later, they will droop evenly, haha. I also just think that if you're going through the trouble/pain/money to get your boobs done anyway, they might as well be as perfect as possible, right? Plus it's cheaper if you do it all at once. If you decide to go ahead and do the lift later, you'll be paying more, because it's a separate surgery, with separate anesthesia and operating room fees and all that. Then again, as someone else said was her experience, I've seen photos where the implants help hide the asymmetry. In the end, it's up to you. If a little bit of droop doesn't bother you, then it's not a big deal. Your boobs are for you, and as long as you're happy with them, who cares? I just wanted to give a different perspective. ![]() No matter what you decide, I hope they're great! |

I have to agree with blackviolet, particularly if your PS recommends it. After all is said and done the implants might weigh your boobs down more, making the unevenness even more noticeable. And if you're borderline now, then you'll probably need one down the line, which is another recovery and another set of costs. As far as the scarring goes, from what I've read it's actually not noticeable at all, it blends nicely with the skin on your nipple.
If you don't think it's a big deal to you, then I say go with your gut and not do it. However, I've noticed that a lot of ladies get scrutinize every aspect of their results and wish they'd done something different or went in another direction. But if it doesn't fit in your budget, then by all means put it off until later.

It turned out that I did not need to have it done! I would definitely wait and see. 2 cm is nothing, you probably would never have noticed it, and once the implants are in, I think it will probably be even less noticeable.

I was at the borderline on getting a lift but decide not to get it done. My nipples are uneven and I have a bit of ptosis due to breast feeding. Well, I made a bad decision not listening to my ps and planning to go back in the winter to get the lift done along with bigger implants. My boobs have the snoopy look, it bothers the heck out of me. Is very noticeable that one nipple is lower than the other. I'm not proud to show them off if my friends ask to look at them. They probably thinks "You paid 6k for these?".

Look at it like this!! My surgeon did recommend that I have a lift done and do it with 2 surgeries. The first being augmentation ( implants ) then the second being the lift. He informed me that this would eliminate puckering which would occur if I had the two done in one procedure. I went ahead and had the surgery done but had it all at once. I now have major puckering and I would now like to have more surgery to lift my nipples at lot more. So if you need a lift later then it is best that you got the implants done first. Two surgeries, costly, I know but I think well worth it in the end. Good luck and all the best. PS you are in a win win situation at the end of the day.

2cm is quite a lot when it comes to asymmetry. Augmentations often exaggerate existing flaws/asymmetries so you may want to consider it. Especially as if you are unhappy with it in the end it will cost considerably more to have a second surgery than to have it done in one go.
I had a very small donut lift with implants and unless I am in seriously bright unflattering fluorescent light AND you are REALLY looking, you can't see my scars. Totally up to you, obviously, but I thought I'd throw that in there for thought.

My left boob was about an inch or two lower than my right, my PS said i needed a lift, because if they droop now, they will only droop more with bigger boobs, IMO, if you are going to do it, intend on doing it right the first time and get what is needed or may be needed in the near future now... i understand you are on a budget, as was i, but would you rather spend a little extra, and you boobs look great and you be totally happy, or not... and be unhappy with the results... usually with a lift they do the lolli-pop incision, but i was lucky enough and didnt need it... i have pics in my yahoo forum check them out...
