Red face Loss of Sensation?

I've had another consult and the PS and I both agree that I should get an areola reduction along with my implants otherwise i will not achieve the look that i want. My biggest concern however is sensation am I going to lose it? Currently I have extremely sensetive nipples/areola area and I am concerned that with the incision used that I may lose some sensation that I have currently.

Is ther anyone out there who has had this done and can tell me a bit about whether or not they lost sensation and if so how long it took to come back? My PS says that I shouldn't lose any but i have my doubts.

Thanks.

Well... wouldnt you think that by having areola incision that ur chances of losing sensitivity would be higher ? Its just not the case at all ! I had crease incision and lost my beloved sensitivity, its totally gone in the left, and returns periodically in the right, but only in certain positions, and to be honest, ive given up trying with them ! But, I can honestly say, it has not affected my desire for sex, or my ability to enjoy sex cos I now have a shape that Im proud of, and that in itself is a turn on...Ive heard girls with the areola have kept their sensitivity and some have lost it, just like the crease incision, so its totally down to pot luck,, i hope ur a lucky one !

Ps, mine stopped hurting around id say the 4-6 week mark, but OH touching them now can sometimes still hurt,

During my consult my PS told me the same thing. She explained that it is very likely that I will lose sensitivity in the areola/nipple area.

Wink Mastopexy w/Areola Reduction

Jasyjewel:

There is a possibility that you may end up with hypersensitivity instead of losing sensitivity. I say that because it is what happened to me. I had a benelli lift with submuscular placement 7 November 06, and I am not healed yet. My nipples and areolae are extremely sensitive.

I'm looking forward to them returning to normal. Since my surgery I've been wearing a sports brassiere 23/7, but last night I made the huge mistake of falling asleep without wearing one. Whew! Between the covers rubbing across my chest, plus me tossing and turning, I feel as if someone is holding lit matches to by nipples.

Just now I'd give anything to feel numbness.

Thanks for sharing that, I keep worrying about losing sensation and hadn't really thought about gaining any.

In the end I would really take either in exchange for having new and larger breasts.

Thanks again Alaskana

hi Jasy
i had just BA via areola incision - no nipple reduction per say.. but it's pretty close I guess, as they are still cutting the nipple from the skin, right?

anyway, my right on eis intact - i feel it and "feel" it, if u know what i mean

as for my left.. i can feel it, but completly lost the "turn on" sensation of it when my dh touches or sucks on it.. so go figure.

i also heard form all the ps's i consulted with prior to surgery that the losing sensation in the nipples is completly independant of them cutting the nipple.. it has to do with pocket size and a nerve that runs from under the arm to nipple.. sometimes they hit that nerve (which ever incision, even belly button one) and that's when you are likely to lose sensation..

hope this helps

Hey Jasyjewel:

I had a benelli lift and a ba unders also and didn't lose sensitivity on my nipples. If anything I also have more sensitivity than anything else. I'm still very early on my recovery, but obviously it depends on the person the sensitivity thing.

I had a benelli lift with 500cc unders and I feel like I could stick a pin in my nips/boob or areola and not feel a thing, but if anything brushes against it it feels like fire on them (hypersensitive, I guess)
I was scared that my actually nips would not get hard, but they do it just seems to take more stimulation. Honestly my areolas are the ugliest things that I have EVER seen. I am a little scared becasue of the way that they look. I KNOW that I am 2 weeks out and they will heal, but I feel ugly and dont want my DH near me.

THe scars do heal and it will not look so "Texas Chainsaw Massacre ish"????
