Ladies with lifts - do you sleep with a bra?
I'm confused and conflicted with this. My PS says I shouldn't sleep in a bra, and if I go out, just stick to sports bras because my right side is still a bit high, and he feels that gravity is good for getting them to settle. But, I had this great lift done and the last thing I want is to start sagging!! A few times I did sleep with a bra, and I did notice lately that my right side is really noticeably (to me anyway) higher than my left. So what do I do? Sleep in a bra so neither of them sag, but at the cost of making it harder for the right one to drop, or sleep without a bra and hope the right one settles quicker at the risk of BOTH of them sagging?

I would follow your PS's advice to sleep without a bra -- at least until your right side drops. Sleeping without a bra for a few weeks should help the implant settle and it wont ruin your lift. It would take a much longer time to sag because of not sleeping in a bra. Once your right side settles, you could go back to sleeping in a bra to protect the lift.

I am no PS but I would imagine that the implant is so tight and snug under the muscle that it isnt going to move much. This is one of the reason they go under the muscle to help eliminate breast ptosis (sagging). Each PS is different, mine said I can go without bra. Which I do almost 24/7. Eventually mine will sag as will others due to age and if there is any significant weight gain or loss, but I think this would take a period of several years. Take care and all the best.

Hmm, my PS recommended that I NEVER sleep without a bra... isn't it funny how different their recommendations can be?!
Anyway, the reason my PS cites for wearing a bra to bed is that it will help prevent the implants from settling off to the sides, like what (he believes) would happen if I slept on my back. However, he didn't mention anything about there being an increased risk for sagging by not wearing a bra, so I think you may be good in that regard. ![]() Ultimately, your PS knows what's best for you and your particular situation, and I wouldn't think that he'd advise you to do something that would cause more sagging. Good luck... hope righty drops soooon!! |

I wear a bra 24/7. I did wear the strap to push the top of the implants down, but I really don't want to ruin what I did. My PS actually doesn't want them to drop too fast and end up sagging! I feel more secure in a bra anyway. I wear a sports bra at night and a wireless bra during the day.

The more I read and find out info, the more I find how different each PS is! I wore a tight support bra for just over a week and when I went for my appt. at nine days out, he said I don't have to wear a bra at all now. EVER! Not to bed, not out and about...nada. I must say, I feel great going without! But I do have that nagging worry about sag. I didn't go sooo big though, and they are under the muscle, so I'm trying not to worry too much. I wouldn't think there would be much chance of sagging while sleeping...and I've gotten to where I'm sleeping on my side now anyway and the girls are all squished together it seems. Bedtime cleavage LOL!

One of the PS I consulted with said we should always wear a bra - even to bed. His theory was the more the breasts are allowed to move freely the more the skin will stretch over time and cause sagging.

I can see from all these responses that you will be as confused as ever! This is certainly one of those areas where PS's all differ in opinion. I think the most important things to do to prevent sagging is to support your breasts well while do those high impact sports. Tiger I know you from Fitness Fanatics as one of the big exercisers. That's one area that I would bind them as much as possible. As for the sleeping I don't see this as an activity that would promote much sagging. If your breasts fall to the side and your capsules are not healed thoroughly I can see why you would stay in a bra. But otherwise gravity is not as big of a deal as when you are up and around. I usually sleep in a low impact sports bra only because the feeling of fabric brushing my skin is so uncomfortable right now. The skin is still stretching and feels like a sunburn. The nurse in my PS office said I should go without a bra to help them drop but it's too uncomfortable on the skin. I wear wireless bras that don't have a lot of support during the day and the light sport bras at night. But when I exercise I wear the heavy duty iron chastity belt for boobs looking contraptions. The whole San Andreas fault line could erupt into a massive Pacific coast earthquake and wipe out the entire west coast and those babies would not move. As for dropping, both of mine are still high but softening and I figure gravity will work its magic sooner or later. When I can stand it I wear the strap to accelerate things.
I'm sure you are no more certain about what to do since your original posting. So many different opinions! But I do think that if it were really such a threat to sagging that more PS's would be on the same page. I wouldn't worry about it. |

Yup, I wear a light weight sports bra to sleep in. I never sleep without a bra on. I am doing all I can to keep my results as long as I can. This is definately an area where PS differ in opinion. I'd go with what your PS suggests, at least until you are all done settling, D&Fing, etc.

).....I am VERY much with you on the support while running/exercising, and I do wear at least 2 sportsbras and often times a third running tank with a built in support bra whenever I go running - these things look like hard round cantalopes attached to my chest that are completely immobilized! I take it to way more of an extreme than ANY of the women I see running who have big boobs. And it's so true - so many different opinions, makes it confusing, but the one thing in common is that everyone is following their doctor's advice, so I think I'll just continue to do the same and not second guess him! -Tiger |
