Arrow taping and scars after a donut (peri areolar mastopexy)

hi all!

I had extemely mild tuberous breasts, but I hated how my nipples were pointy instead of flat so my PS did a donut lift in order to flatten out the areola. They are pretty flat now (SO HAPPY!!!), and the puckering is not bad at all!

Anyways, I am supposed to tape them with Micropore Paper Tape for the next few months so they stay flat. It is supposed to stay on for 10 days, and then change it. He said this will also help with the scar color but I dont see how?

Did anyone else have to do this? I have no problem doing it at all, it's just that I thought I would be able to rub some vit E or Scar cream on the incisions (which look GREAT by the way already). Since I am not allowed to peel the tape off (have to let it naturally fall off), what should I do for scars?

What did you all do for the scar around the areola? I am so so so so soooo happy with my results, and just really want the scar to look great!! Thanks all!!

hey there! glad to hear that the healing is going well so far!!!

When I had my lift, my PS had me tape the incisions for about a month. I changed my tape every 2-3 days, and would just put Scarzone on the incisions before I re-applied the tape. And now (two months later!) things are lookin' great!!

I really believe the taping hlped the scars to heal flat. I know surgeons have different opinions about how long to continue the taping and whatnot, so as soon as you get the ok to stop taping, that's when I would start using a scar cream of choice.

Good luck!!!

MY BA is on Monday 8/25/08 and my instructions are to use paper tape. According to my PS it helps the scar to heal better and keeps it flat.. HTH.
