Crescent Lift after BA - HELP !!!
Hi guys
HELP !!! I had my BA 6 weeks ago and have gone from an A to a C/D - recovery has gone really well. Problem though is that although I was an A, I have breastfed 3 kids, so I was a bit saggy. My PS had to go under the muscle (silicone cohesive gel) due to the lack of breast tissue. I am now finding that I have a slight double bubble effect, which really spoils the look for me ! He had mentioned to me just after surgery (the next day !!) that I may need a crescent lift. He was hopeful though that the implants would drop & fluff enough to 'cover' the sag. Guess what - doesn't look like it !! I am REALLY scared about having more surgery. Can anyone share their experience with having a crescent lift ?? Does it leave a noticeable scar and what is the recovery time like ? Really appreciate your advice Cheers - Michele (Land of Oz) |

I've never had a crescent lift, but I do know that some surgeons do it under local anesthesia only. The incision is made around the top half of the areola. It should heal nicely. Areola incisions tend to heal extremely well, so I wouldn't worry too much about a scar.

I had a crescent lift 20 days ago. I kind of got the creeps thinking about getting the lift, not the ba, but just the lift. Now, it was not so bad. A little painful the first couple of days (nothing a little pain killers won't help), then nothing. I'm pleased with the results so far.
Good luck with your decision. Please ask any ?'s. Last edited by Ivy; 10-27-2006 at 01:43 PM. |

Two other PSs I had consulted said it would need lifting, so I was doubtful, but the thought of doing the lift and the BA was TOO MUCH so I went with no lift. Now my leftie is sitting lower than the implant, so the leftie has a bump on the upper pole. It looks really stupid. And the nipple points south. My rightie, on the other hand, is round and perky. Neither breast has dropped yet. My PS says when I've fully dropped the leftie will look natural and the nipple will point outward. From this forum I've learned that it usually takes 3-6 months to drop so it's NOT TIME TO WORRY YET!! ![]() He said if I do end up needing a lift, he will do a crescent under local anesthesia. I am actually glad we did it this way to be sure the lift was necessary before having it. He said that you can get the lift without re-doing the implant and that it is actually safer for the breast to do the lift separately from the BA. Be my post-BA "lift worry" buddy! And lets keep each other posted! Last edited by JACQELINERT; 10-18-2006 at 06:37 PM. |

I had a crescent lift with my ba last November. The scars are really not bad at all. Used lots of Mederma scar cream.
First consult said I would need to go over the muscle because of the risk of double bubble. Second doctor said he did not agree and would rather do the minimal lift with the augmentation and go under the muscle. When with the second doc and I've been really happy. I wouldn't think just the lift would be much at all compared to the ba itself. Good luck deciding. |

How did the PS know you needed a lift with your BA?

Hey Michelle,
Where were your incisions? I had (during one procedure) a vrescent lift and BA. I had crease incisions, the crescent scar is 1/3 of the way around the areola. Since the area is pigmented, you really don't see any thing several weeks later. Sounds like your PS is a perfectionist and thats a good thing. I imagine recovery for just the crescent lift (the most minor of the "lifts" would be quite easy. Good Luck |

Both PSs said I had ptosis (saggy breasts) measured by where the nipple is to the under breast crease. I was stage 2 ptosis. My PS said if I went with a wider implant than he would only have to do a crescent versus a full areola lift. So I did and I'm so glad I followed his advice. Another girl I know just recently got a BA (same doctor) and she just had the crescent lift/mastopexy on 1 breast. My PS performed the lift for another $750.00. I'm very happy I went with the second opinion and did it though! |

Nipple to crease seems like a better measure of sagginess than collarbone to nipple. I will have to ask my PS about that! Thanks for the info! That's interesting that the width of yr implant could affect how extensive yr lift surgery has to be. I never knew that! I'm glad you found a PS who could give you good results! |
