Cresent, anchor???

I've been to 2 PS's, both suggested a lift with my breast augmentation. One said he would do a lift with an anchor incision, the other said he would not need to do the anchor. He would do an incisioin under the breast (cresent?) and around the areola. The second doc sounds better....does anyone have any suggestions??

The incision under the breast is called a subglandular or crease incision. The one around the areola if there's also a lift will be either a donut lift or a crescent lift. Those are pretty selfexplanatory in how they're done, with the donut lift the PS will cut a donut shape of skin away around the areola, with a crescent lift it's more of a c-shape that has to go.

What you want to do depends largely on the results you're looking for. A crescent lift will only lift the nipple higher up but won't get you to pass a pencil test. An anchor lift on the other hand will tone up the entire breast since there will be more skin removed. I guess it depends on how bad you consider your sagging to be... Would you be happier with less scarring and a smaller lift now with a possibility of a full lift later, or would you rather have more visible results and the scarring.

Both plans sound good though and it depends mostly on your individual anatomy and your preferences towards the result. Good luck!

What's a pencil test, and what does it prove?

I had a benelli lift 2 weeks ago and that is the donut lift. THey cut the areola circumference and move it up I guess.. LOL
I had one PS tell me that based on measurements that I would not need a lift, but then the one that I went with told me that based on the low location on my nips that they would point down if I didnt do it. It wasnt due to sagging. My whole areola was large and low on my breast. If I had gotten a breast augmentation without the Benelli then I would have odd looking breasts with the areola at the bottom of my breast.

THe cresent lift looks great I saw that on Dr 90210. Great results on there. I wasnt faced with large or sagging breasts so an anchor was not an option, but I dont think that I would be comfortable with the scars, but then again someone else may not like the benelli scars either.
I am very early into the process so its too early to tell where my boobs will end up landing if/when they drop, but the benelli was not a huge deal at all with intercuticular stitching instead of pursestring. THere is no puckering. THere is no feeling in my nips AT ALL, but they look good!!! LOL

If I had been larger and a cresent lift was offered with good results I would do that any day over an anchor lift.
Check out some of the pics on the web and look at the differences.
Good Luck and keep us posted!

A pencil test is when you put a pencil under your breast and see if it sticks or drops. If it sticks there, the breast sags. It seems to show up regularly on magazines like Cosmo I personally prefer boobs that can hold the pencil to ones that can't and wouldn't be worried until you can keep like 4 pencils stored under your boob, so it really is a bit of a silly test in the end but it's an easy way to describe the actual breast droop rather than the nipple placement on it.

I am now 5 days post op after a full anchor lift. I went to 3 different PS trying to find one to do the "donut lift" obviously to decrease the amount of scarring, but all 3 said I would not get the results I was looking for, my boob's sagged too much, so I decided if all 3 said the same thing, the anchor was the way to go. I can tell you that the pain was minimal for me, and they don't look nearly as bad as I expected. WAY PERKY!!! and there is no way they would hold a pencil underneath. Everyone is different though, so good luck with whatever you decide!!!

I think the second ps was talking about a "lollipop" lift.
I would recommend going on more consults and also asking which lift is better and why.
I had an "anchor" type lift and I couldn't be happier with the shape of my breasts.
I was told by 1 ps that I needed a lollipop, another recommended a binelli, and 2 the full anchor lift.

Wonder Woman

Hi, I had a cresent life 11 months ago. My PS said I was borderline but thought if I was spending that much money I wanted them to look perfect so I went ahead with it. What they did was make the incision at the top of my areola, about 2 inches and then remove a piece of skin and pull your breast up and stitch it. What they didn't tell me was that it was going to stretch my areola out! I'm not happy at all to say the least, I think mine look ugly now and also I have a very pink scar at the top on my breast. I know some scar worse than others but I just wanted to let you know. I hope your breast augmentation comes out just as you had hoped and I wish you luck!
