Donut Lift, Exchange of Implants
Greetings. Was lurking over the last few days and decided to register today and ask a few questions on experiences.
Initial BA was February 2005. I was EXTREMELY lean/into weight training; 45 years old, 5'7" and 140lbs but with 16-18% bodyfat. I had overs, silicone 360, incision under the breast. I had very mild ptosis and was about a 34A depleted breast (before fitness I was a 34C but not full). I LOVED MY PS AND MY EXPERIENCE. Post surgery, I was about a very full 34C/34D. I am a large boned girl so it looked great and very natural. About 1.5 years after the surgery, I started having a few health issues (I do NOT believe this is augmentation related as I had quite a few symptoms but nothing that affected me). Long story short: I became hypothryoid. Since then, I had stopped weight training, gained a few pounds -- but something odd happened: my breasts grew on their own as I was treated for the thyroid condition. Now I am a 34DD/DDD -- painful breasts, enlarged areola, kinda droppy -- and just too big 'for me'. I am having the implants replaced (in 10 days) with approximately 240s/cohesive silicones and the doctor is doing a donut lift/mini lift. My questions are: 1. Has anyone had a similar experience? 2. Were you happy with the end result? I would like to add that I love my surgeon and totally trust him. I have refereed my friends to him and they have had excellent results -- but no one I know has a situation like mine. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide. |

Too bad no one has answered your thread. I'm interested too! I am having a redo 12/23 with a benelli (doughnut) lift but I am increasing in size. Are you over or under? Staying in the same pocket?

Hi Stephy.
I did have the surgery but did not end up with the donut lift. The 360s plus the weight gain I had in my natural breast tissue did a number on me. Just minutes before surgery, after marking and measuring my PS determined mch to even his dismay, that a benelli was not going to produce enough of a lift to satisfy my goals. We opted for a lollipop lift. Emotionally I was disappointed but intellectually, I knew I needed it. At the time of my first augmentation -- I was really super lean and muscular and flew under the radar so to speak in terms of getting away without a lift by going over with a slightly larger implant. In hindsight (always that way, right?), I should have had the lift and gone with slightly smaller implants than I ended up with. Now having experienced having them, I would have been just has happy with perky and good shape but smaller size. For this surgery, I did stay 'over'. My PS said there was no need to revise the pocket because of the amount of lift that I ended up having and the diameter of the implant was not too far off from what I had prior. Good luck to you with your surgery! |

Donut/mini-lift/Benelli uses an incision around the areola -- along with some surface skin around that. Then it is sewn back up, purse-string style.
