How long after your lift were you able to shower?

For some reason I keep forgetting to ask this! I have my pre-op next week and will def. ask then, but what was it for you girls? The thought of not showering for more than a day or two really grosses me out, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right??

Thanks!

Alicia

Wink Ok

soo my BA/Lift and lipo are in about 2 weeks and I have been told that I will NOT be able to get the boobs wet for 3 weeks!!! whcih seems crazy and like Forever but I will follow directions because I do NOT want any problems, but i know that everyone is way different on that from what I have read, it really depends on dr. I am glad it is winter and only about 40 or 50 for highs here and plus I will get Dh to wash my hair and other thanthat I will take baths after the 7 days I have to wait until lipo stiches are out. I will do what I have to after going thru it and putting out all that money and time and taking all that time away from my 3 little girls. hope that helps and i got a note book and am carring it with me sooooo anytime i have aquestion pop into my mind i write it downa dn then ask about a million when I call!! lol I am sure that they love that, the girl the other day says you always have amillion questions sooo start shooting! take care

milla will become famous soon enough
i had a BA, no lift or other procedures.
i could shower exactly 1 week after my BA which was when i went to my PS to take out my stitches.

i know it sounds gross but in the meantime, you could make do with semi showers like stand in the shower or tub and shower from under the boobies down, get someone to wash your hair and clean the rest of you in other awkward ways. there's no other option really.

what i remember doing also was having wipes always ready to freshen up so try and make sure you have those available somewhere within easy reach.

I had a full anchor lift and BA and was able to shower 48 hrs after surgery. My stitches are dissolvable (spelling?). Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not......I couldn't imagine not being able to shower then....it was gross to say the least! I think the hardest part of all of this for me is not being able to do my "mommy" things with my 3 year old and 11 year old!
good luck on your surgery!!!

With my first surgery I couldn't shower for 10 days. Thats when PS removed stitches. However I was allowed to take a tub bath in shallow water. Just try not to get boobies wet. I leaned over the tub and hubby washed my hair.

I had a lift revision and redo on Thursday. This time PS used waterproof dressings and I was able to shower after 24 hrs. Much easier than trying to get out of the tub without using your chest muscles.

If you want to know before pre op visit, I would just call the office and ask. They should be able to tell you.
Good luck!

I know what you mean - I'm shower twice a day and can't stand feeling "icky". I was told not to get my boobs wet for two weeks. I had an anchor lift and ba with dissolvable stitches - the grossest part is still seeing all the tape, stitches and black marks from the marking pen. Franken-boobs! It's not too bad once you work out a system though...I do antibacterial bath wipes on my chest and under arms and back, and wash everywhere else as normal - just being careful not to splash water on the girls. Luckily it's cold right now or it would really be awful...Houston's like a sauna in the summertime! Yuck!

I had a vertical lift with augmentation and I was allowed to shower 48 hours after surgery. It was gross. But when it was actually time to shower, I was freaking out. I did not want to touch them, get them wet, nothing.

I had a Binelli lift and BA. My doc let me shower the next morning after my post op appointment. He covered the incisions with surgitape which stayed on for a couple of weeks and protected the area.

Hi,
I have not had my surgery yet, but my PS said I will be allowed to shower 24 hours after surgery, but I cannot get my stitches wet. I am getting a crescent mastopexy lift along with a BA. I actually read something that said you could not shower for a week after having a lift or a BA! I am so glad my PS did not say that, I cannot imagine going that long w/out showering. Yuck! It seems like a lot of the doctors have different opinions about this, hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

I was allowed to take a shower 3 days after surgery.
I was like you, I felt that not showering for 3 days would be a nightmare.
But I was in so much pain and under so much medication that I was bearly awake to feel gross.
And I was in too much pain to care about anything else.
Just follow you ps's instructions, not showering for a couple of days is a small price to pay for big beautiful boobies.
