Question Tuck in instead of cut off?

I am scheduled for an uplift on 8th March 07.I am curious as to why my PS wants to tuck the skin inside my breast instead of removing it,is this unusual?

I haven't had a lift so can't offer personal experience but from what I have 'heard' it's to fill the breast out better and of course if this can be done with existing tissue of your own (even partially), the fact that it's your own tissue and keeps its own blood supply (I think) just means it's preferable for your body.

I'm sure if anyone else knows better they will say - this is just what I have gathered during my research.

I seriously doubt they'd tuck in the skin tissue. Maybe they just said tissue and meant breast tissue whilst you understood it to be skin? With a full anchor lift skin is always removed. Some surgeons also remove sagging breast tissue because apparently the surgery is easier to perform that way whilst others just tuck in the breast tissue thus minimizing the need for implants provided the woman was happy with her size initially.

Well, to "tuck something" is a sewing term that means to "make a seam." If you "tuck" your shirt, you are taking two snipped edges and sewing them together. Is that what your PS meant?

Red face tuck or remove.

The ps did go on to say that sometimes the skin that has been tucked in can go hard if it loses blood supply and if this happens it could form a hard "chalky lump" which could then be removed after about a year.I presume that would be when my breasts were fully healed and could stand another surgery. He definatly said he would tuck the skin in,as I said I thought it was removed and he said no I will tuck it in and then went on to explain the "occasional chalky lump "that I might experience.
Have been on to my breast .org and there is a surgeon who is going to explain things to me.Unfortunatly I work 12 hour shifts and am not allowed my phone and although I did leave the works number for them to contact me on today ,they have left me answer phone messages on my own phone instead.Lets hope I hear more tomorrow.

cut or tuck?Is it maybe because no implant?

Further to my recent thread about not removing the skin when I have my uplift in 10 days, would the fact that I am not having an implant or having any breast tissue removed,(hopefully)although the surgeon did say he would like to remove some as they would still be rather large and would again droop later due to this.
Idon t want to lose any of the tissue as I have always been large breasted and know they will go down maybe a cup size,I am an E cup and wouldn t mind a DD or even a D.I just want breasts that look nice instead of being around my waist.lol.
Don t know weher this has any bearing on the tuck instead of remove thing.

Not sure but....

I could be wrong, but I was always under the impression that with a breast lift they did in fact remove "dead" tissue in order to facilitate the lift. For example, when I had my breast lift I had the "Benelli" or donut lift. The surgeon removed the areola and removed tissue from inside the breast and then sewed it back up using "purse string" sutures all around the areola. Without this removal of tissue it wouldn't have been a lift. So I think that they have to remove something to give you a lift. I don't know that a lift will necessarily make you go down in size, that is a reduction. I hope I read your post right, I hope this helps a little, if not I am sure one of the other ladies will know (like Nikki - she knows everything!) Good luck and welcome to the forum XOXO

tuck/cut

He pushes the breast into the upper part of the breast skin and then tucks in the bottom part of the breast skin into the crease under the breast. The breast will then be sitting higher on my chest ,and then the nipple is re-located in a more suitable position.
The surgeon left a message on my answer-phone to say he would try and contact me around 10.30 am.Am unavailable on my number at that time but will phone his secretary and give them a contact number once again for him to speak to me on today.Hopefully I will have all the answers by 6pm when I return home.
And thankyou all very much ladies.
XKX

I also thought that only a reduction would make you smaller. This is definitely a new procedure to me! I had the full anchor lift, and they also removed tissue. Cant wait to hear what your PS says!
