two weeks away from BL/BA...getting nervous!

Well, I've decided to go through with it! I put down my deposit, so now it's official! But, after months (actually, years!) of wanting to do this, I'm starting to get really nervous. What if I don't like them? What if I have a lot of complications? I'm also a little stressed because the PS said I have a slight "deformity" in my chest where I'm a little concave so he can't go too big or I run the risk of uniboob (or monoboob...I can't remember the lingo!) He told me the exact words, but it was full of medical jargon, and really the only word that stuck out was deformity. He did say not to worry, he's done this procedure on many women with the same issue and they were fine. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and have experience with it? I'm not planning on going gigantic....I'm 4'11", 105lbs....I'm going with 285L & 300R, but still....I don't want to do something I'll regret.

So, I have a few questions for you guys....

--How long did your recovery take? I have 4 kids, my youngest is almost 3. You know moms can't take "time off," but my husband is taking a few days off work, and my mom will come for a few days after that. When do you think it'd be ok for me to go solo with the kids without help?

--I've had 5 surgeries (4 c/s and a hernia operation.) Can I expect my recovery to be similar to my other surgeries? (which have been relatively easy)

--How long until you were able to drive?

--How long until you felt comfortable going out in public with the twins? When did you stop feeling like everyone knew you had them done?

--I haven't told many people that I'm doing this. I run with a very conservative, "soccer mom" crowd. My main goal is really just to get my pre-baby boobs back (well, maybe a little more, but not much.) I would just be mortified if people knew as soon as I walked into a room. I don't want to be the subject of gossip, but I know it's probably unavoidable. Should I just be honest about it and tell people up front, or should I act like nothing is different and let them wonder? Any other moms out there have any advice?

--How long until you were able to take the new girls for a "test drive?" (or more specifically, until your husband/partner took them for a "test drive?")

--I'm going for my pre-op appointment this morning....can you guys think of anything that I need to ask the PS ? (other than the questions above?)

This whole thing is very out of character for me. For a long time I've put off doing this because the whole thing just seemed very expensive and frivolous. That's why I'm very worried that I'm going to spend all this money and go through all this pain and end up disappointed. So I guess I need a little bit of "Go team!" My husband is very supportive...but I secretly think maybe he just wants me to stop whining about my saggy boobs (and, of course, what kind of a man wouldn't like his wife to be bigger?) Of course, he's never said this things...and I know if I didn't want to do this he'd be fine with that as well. I think I just need some support from others who've been through this. I'm so glad this forum is available. Reading all the other threads does help me relax and get excited about my surgery and just being able to share my worries here helps me feel better. I'd love any advice or suggestions from those of you who've been through this.

When do you think it'd be ok for me to go solo with the kids without help? this depends on how your recovery is, and everyone is so different. I felt a lot better quickly, but it was actually the pain meds that made me think i was 100%. I was driving in 3 days, moving around within the first 12 hours. I would suggest taking it easy for 3-5 days.

--i've had 5 surgeries (4 c/s and a hernia operation.) can i expect my recovery to be similar to my other surgeries? (which have been relatively easy) this was my only major surgery, but it was alot easier than i expected and a lot less pain than i expected. The first 12-24 hours, i could not even scoot myself back into my pillow, but after that i was in pain, but i could do things for myself

--how long until you were able to drive? 3 days

Any other moms out there have any advice? i still hide mine from my clients, and my parents- and i have more cc's than you so you could be ok. Then again, you don't want the soccer moms talking bad about you behind your back so i guess you telling them will depend on how you feel the best way to go about it is

--how long until you were able to take the new girls for a "test drive?" (or more specifically, until your husband/partner took them for a "test drive?") in 2 weeks he was squeezing them pretty good... My ps did aggressive massage the day after surgery so i figured they were good to go

--i'm going for my pre-op appointment this morning....can you guys think of anything that i need to ask the ps ? (other than the questions above?) ask anything you think.... Sometimes i regret leaving post ops and forgetting a question. Write them down

I can't answer all of your questions but I will answer the ones that I can.
First of all you are not going too big so don't worry about people noticing. Much of how you boobs look is how you display them. Dress them up in a push up and a low cut shirt and they will shine. A sports bra or an underwire from Target under a T-shirt and no one will notice. I will tell you for at least 6 months all you will think is that everyone is staring at your chest but that is not true, it's just your own insecurity.

I was driving after 4 days...but it was not easy. I think it was really 2 weeks before I felt it was safe for me to be on the road but I also had a lift.

As far as your kids go, just keep things real simple. Paper plates + cups, microwave foods, take out. You just have to go slow for a few weeks and then all will be fine.

Should anyone inquire about your lack of motion you can always say your hurt your shoulder or something like that. HTH

I think that your recovery depends alot on exactly what you are having done. You posted this in the lift section, but I didn't see you mention having a lift?

I had a lollipop lift and so this was my experience...

I needed a FULL week plus for recovery. My husband was not home but my mom took care of me for the first couple of days. My kids are a little older and they helped me out with the things I couldn't do after that.
I have had multiple other surgeries and I breezed through those so I went into this overly confident. I attempted to go back to work about 10 days after surgery (that's when the doc said I could) and I was able to work for two days before I had to go back to the PS because of the pain and he told me to go back home, take more pain meds and back to bed. I was not prepared for this at all because I am normally a little more of a bad ass than this.

Driving also depends on what type of surgery you have. With a lift you are not supposed to raise your arms so you need to wait longer to drive. I think they told me a week, but I drove a little sooner, just really carefully. It was not comfortable at all. Otherwise it depends on how long you have to take the pain meds. I hated taking the pain meds!

Going out in public wasn't really a problem for me even when I was still really swollen. I just wore a sports bra and a t shirt that was a little more loose fitting.

I agree with IRIS that you can dress them up or down depending on how much you want to show them off so I wouldn't worry too much about this.

Because of the lift I was told to wait six weeks for test drive, but my husband came home from Iraq a few days earlier and we tried them out about the 5 week mark.

My best advice and I give it to everyone on here is to take pics in to the doc of what you want to look like, what you think is too big, and what you think is too small...also the shape you would like. Playboy online is like $20 for a 30 day subscription. The girls in my PS office recommended that to me and it was the best advice I was ever given. It is a wealth of pictures of sooo many different shapes/sizes of boobs. It helped my PS know what I expected from my outcome and I felt confident that he knew what I wanted.

All good husbands say..."do it for yourself"...ha ha ha...but my husband has been as excited as I have been since I had it done. It's pretty funny!

Congratulations and Good Luck!!!

Thanks so much for all the advice. I just got back from the PS and he also helped me calm down a little!

I'm having a donut lift, plus saline unders. I decided to go 300cc on both sides.

Today he said as long as there's no pain and I'm not on pain meds.

That's good, and it sounds just like me. I know I'll probably be a bit self conscious at first...but I think it will be worth it in the long run. The good thing is, we're military, so in a couple of years I'll be in a new town and no one will know the difference!

I can see why!

I think he was hesitant to show any real preference one way or the other at first. He figured if he was TOO excited I'd be all "Is that all you care about?" and if he acted like he didn't care at all I'd say, "Don't you care about me?" Poor guy.

But now, the closer we get to the big day the more I think he's looking forward to a new and improved version.

Thanks again for the advice!

Hi There ~

1. My bl/breast augmentation recovery was about a week. I think it all depends on you. I stayed down longer because I was being a bum. I dont have kids. I do have a wonderful DH that took care of me & I let him spoil me because I loved it. I had a 2nd breast augmentation & that night I was up & about. The next day I was out & about. So my 1st surgery I was just being lazy.

2. IDK (my 2 breast augmentation were my only surgeries)

3. Right around the 3-4 day mark. I stopped pain killers on the day after surgery on both breast augmentation. Unless I felt like I needed them I didnt take any pain meds. I am bull headed like that.

4. My 1st bl/breast augmentation I didnt go outside for about a week but that was because I was insecure. My 2nd breast augmentation I was out & about that nite & next day. I know people stare at my boobs still but that is because I am in love with them so I show off my cleavage all the time.

5. Tell people if you want. Your not going that big. You can hide them in clothes or show them off if you want. Your not going that big. My first breast augmentation I had 350cc & people couldnt tell. Well now my 550/600cc are noticeable but I still can hide them if I want. If someone asks you then you can either tell them that you did or no just a nice push-up bra. I have told people that I got a lift & not implants because I felt that it was none of there business to know my whole surgery. You can tell I had a lift because they are up there.

6. The test drive is different for everyone. It all depends on your pain level. But with a bl/breast augmentation it was over a month because I was nervous. Now it doesnt mean not to have sex for a month it just means no play time for the girls yet.

7. I dont know of any other questions only because I dont know you & what questions you have already asked. But GL!!! Happy booby wishes. I waited for years for my breast augmentation/bl & I wish I didnt wait that long because I love them. My scars are going away & look great!!!

I see that your a military wife. Do you live in housing or out on the econmy? I live in housing & I did tell a few neighbors that I was getting them done. One girl did love to tell people that I got them done but I dont really care because I love my girls & like you said we will be moving so I wont have to worry about housing ever again after this move. (It was mandotory here & DH wont have to live in housing again. YES!!!)

I also want you to understand that my booby journey is my personal issue & it is hard for me to share so please dont be offended if I dont accept. I am trying to work through my booby rollercoaster of emotions.
