Question Tanning???

I had a breast augmentation/BL done 3 months ago and I am missing my time in the tanning bed! I don't tan very often but I do go ever now and then (I feel like it hides the stretch marks from my kids ) Any way--- when is ok to tan after having a lift with ur breast augmentation? I'm kinda afraid that my scars will turn a funny color!!!

Anyone out there with experience on this?

I also had a breast augmentation/bl. I didnt tan for about 5 months when I went on vacation to Hawaii. I always put sunblock on my scars. I got a nice bathing suit tan & my scar area no tan. As long as your closed up & good to go swimming in a pool I think you should be fine in a tanning bed. Sunblock on the scars for the first year is important. I also think using the sunblock on my scars that 2 weeks in Hawaii also was good for my scars.

Cover the scars with tape or sunblock!! Definately keep them covered, like Daisydog said up to a year.

I didn't do that after my breast augmentation and mine are okay looking, but they probably would have healed way lighter/less noticeable if I had. Not sure about the time you're supposed to wait, ask your PS, but definately cover, cover, cover! (I worked at a tanning salon)

Airbrush Tan

KNB2009, have you ever looked into Airbrush tan?
**not to be confused with spray tan that is done in a spray booth***
This is when someone actually airbrushes you with an airbrush gun and you get to choose your color and how dark you want to be or not be.
I also have children and know exactly what you mean when you discuss the stretch marks and the airbrush tan is great at covering them up!
I used to do the bed a few years ago but then I discovered Airbrush tanning.
I love it! It is instant gratification and the best part is you are avoiding those harmful rays that you get in a booth. Also, tanning booths cause premature aging when used excessively.

I would suggest Yelping (www.yelp.com) airbrush tan in your area, I went to 3 different places till I found the place I love and most places sell an extender spray which you can use on your face and body after you shower once the tan starts to fade...I love it! If I'm wearing a low cut shirt, Ill spray a bit on my bust area and they look so much better!
The only thing is that an airbrush tanning session can be a bit more expensive compared to tanning session's but when you think about the danger you are avoiding its well worth the extra $ plus your protecting your brand new assets!

Hey girlie. I waited about 2 weeks before I went to the TB but I made sure to cover my scars. I usually just wear my bra but pull my straps down. You can also use sunblock or get some chapstick with SPF 30 which is really convenient. Just swipe it on & hop on the bed!

yep, totally agree with the other gals. UV light can worsen the appearance of scars, so you'll definitely want to cover them up!

I went back after 3 weeks. Everyone has different tanning results when it comes to scars. On my body, tanning hides my scars and they arent even visible. You can always just cover your scars also if your scared for them.
