Size for 5"4', 115 pound woman??

Hello ladies!

I'm having the hardest time deciding my size and silicone vs. saline. Wondering if anyone could provide any help for me!

I am 5"4, 115 pounds and I have been to 2 docs so far. One was a huge advocate for silicone, saying she performed 98% silicone (above the muslce) and the other was a huge saline advocate (under the muscle), performing 98% saline. You can see my dilemma here! Do I need a third opinion? It's just so hard...the woman doc only spoke of silicone, basically so much that I would not feel comfortable getting saline done there at all!

And the man doc was 100% saline....uggghghhgh.

I was put in a 265cc (pretty sure??) by the woman and a 270cc in the saline...and given the choice between a 270cc and a 240cc for my body type.

I know this thread is all over the place but I'm very confused as to how to go about making my final decision! Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am also worried about breastfeeding in the future and mammograms because I have an aunt who had them done above the muscle and she wishes she could go back and get it under the muscle cause that's how much harder mammograms are.

For me, had I not been filling up my saggy BF boobs then I would have chosen under the muscle, but in order to fill them back up and not have to have a lift I went over the muscles.

The saline/silicone debate is entirely up to you and what you want. There are pros/cons to each, for me I only wanted silicone because of the natural feel.

I'd take the time to research what the best placement and implant is going to be for you. The size range that you were told is most likely due to your BWD and what sizes your body can accommodate.

Good luck!!

I am probably not much help, because I am just as confused as you are, lol, but just wanted to say that we have similar stats and goals I am 5'5" and 119 pounds and want to be a full B to small C as well. My PS goes OVER the muscle using the sub fascial technique (easier recovery and still has alot of the same benefits of going under the muscle) and it is my choice whether to go saline or silicone. He recommends silicone because I am thin and have little breast tissue, but he also said saline would work just fine too, but there is more of a chance of rippling. So at first I thought saline, but lately I am thinking silicone?? He also suggested 260 cc's to get me to where I want to be

Does the doctor that goes over the muscle use the sub fascial technique by chance??Best of luck to you figuring this all out!! It's hard!

My PS did not talk about the sub fascial technique...so I guess he does not perform that! He said he does 98% saline under the muscle. So I'm assuming that's his preferred method and that's what he's best at. He said I should be back to normal within a week and stay off all pretty heavy lifting or exercising for 6 weeks. What did your doc say about those two things? I was told similar things with silicone over the muscle, but I have heard going under the muscle hurts more and leaves a longer recovery time.

At first I was thinking silicone but am now thinking saline because the saline doc just seemed better at what he did vs. the silicone doc (that shall be her name! Haha).

Best of luck to you as well! I see your surgery is in a few weeks?! keep me updated!

You should get a third opinion even if you are 100% certain in your decision. It is best to have three different opinions to compare for thus very reason. I have heard it is much harder for mammograms if they are overs. I am similar in stats and have silicone and I like feel of silicone much better.

hey there,

our stats are nearly identical! i am not sure what bra size you are starting out with though... in any case all i can tell you is what i decided on..

silicone/265 and 240 under muscle. i could have gone either way since i am already starting out with a b/c..

my goals: didn't want to look or feel obviously fake and still wanted to be able to fit in my clothes..

Hello there! I am an A, probably a AA but neve tried that size on. I don't currently fit into my A size bras, there is room there.

Wow I was given a 240 and a 265 as well. You and I have the same goals!

If you are really concerned about breastfeeding and mammograms, then I think saline unders are the way to go.

Overs have a greater likelihood for capsular contracture complications and interfering with mammograms.

Silicone, even with the newer models, still pose risk of microscopic leaks which can cause CC or cause false positive readings on mammograms.

I had these same exact concerns and went with saline complete unders (not even the partial unders that most PS's do), and went with trans-ax incision so that my milk ducts wouldn't even be disrupted. I had no problems at all with breastfeeding, and mammograms and breast exams were so easy that my doctor complimented me on my implants and asked who performed them, she was that impressed!

Wow thank you! That info definitely helps me make my decision. Yes I've heard mammograms are 100% easier under the muscle. Thanks so much.

Is a size 265cc in silicone comparable to a 270cc in saline? When I tried on the 265cc silicone I thought they felt much smaller than the 270cc in saline. What's the next size up in silicone? Should I go with the size up? Because I've always heard people say go a size up or that they wish they went bigger...not smaller.

Basically what I'm asking is-- will 265cc silicone get me to a small C?

Oh and I was also wondering how long after surgery should you be bra fitted? My A bras will not fit after surgery so I was wondering what you ladies did for after surgery. Sports bras??? Wouldn't wanna be fitted then have the swelling go down, etc.!

Hi goldenafternoon, I would think 265 would get you a small C depend how much of an A you have. We have similar stats and I received 275 HP am a solid C cup and started with very little breast tissue. Are you considering high profile? I would recommend going the next size up. I waited about 3 months after my ba to get sized and wore sports bra before 3 months, but this varies for everyone. Good luck.

Post-op size?

You should be about a small C as you are estimating.

I believe that in 5'4", you get about a cup size jump in Mod+ in the 140cc range, and about 150-160cc in the HP profile.

I am 5-4", 112lb, and I am super flat to start. I put in 250cc saline unders back 15 years ago, and that got me a small 34B which you can see in my album.

Keep in mind that pic is post-3 kids and BF'ing all of them. However, unlike many, I didn't lose size because I am 100 percent implant!! haha

So if you are already an A, and you put in what I had, you get to a small C, then you just have to wait and see how you personally D&F.

The only risk I see is that you do lose a tad of implant size to the "unders".

Be very careful not to get too hung up on the implant "size"...far better to take a picture of what you you want to your PS and say, "Make me look like that 6 months post-op!", and go with it. Otherwise, you set yourself up for possible disappointment.

Take care!

I am pretty much flat. You can tell I have a crease in my breast but not much else. I would probably be a double A if I tried it on. There is still room in my A cup. I've always heard to go a size up too. Thank you- I will wait until my pre-op appointment and try on the next size up.

Our stats are the same in height, weight and pre-op bra size. I couldn't fill a AA and had such a small amount of breast tissue that my ps said I was close to not being a candidate for the surgery. My bwd is small, 9.5 and 10 and my ribcage is 29". I got 234cc, it was the largest implant that my body could accommodate and it took me to a D cup. I can wear a 30D, 32D and some 34C, but the bands are not quite tight enough with the 34's. I wanted very modest results. A conservative B was my goal. I do size at a D, but I think my boobs look more like a C and in some clothes I even look like a full B.

Its true that you don't want to get hung up on cc amounts or post op bra sizes. If you can find pictures of what you want to look like, your ps can show you before and after pictures of his patients with similar stats and goals. I think you may want to go on more consultations to find a ps who you feel comfortable with and who you can trust to give you the outcome you desire.

My ps told me silicone unders were my only option due to my lack of tissue. He said silicone would feel more natural, look more natural, have less likelihood of rippling or cc and I would not be able to feel or see the edges of the implant. Good luck to you!

I think it depends on what you are looking for...
I have a smaller frame, but I like the larger look. I have 600cc silicone gel and it took me from a 34 A/B, now a 34 DD! but I feel like this look has balanced me out.

Oh and I was also wondering how long after surgery should you be bra fitted? My A bras will not fit after surgery so I was wondering what you ladies did for after surgery. Sports bras??? Wouldn't wanna be fitted then have the swelling go down, etc.!
My first ba was with 250 overs. I was a 34 A or AA to start, no breast tissue to speak of, very thin (5' 5" and 115 lbs). It put me at a large B. I wore padded bras and looked like a large C. Braless or with a thin bra I looked like a B. My avatar is my 250s in a push-up bra, size 34 B.

You might want to go on the higher end of the scale if you do unders as they eat up some of the final product.

As for bras, each doctor is different. Some say bras with cups, some say surgical or sports bras and some say braless. You might want to ask the doc you choose what they like their patients to do.

Best of luck!
