![]() | Am I freaking out for no reason??
Hi, I'm super new to this forum and my surgery is coming up REALLY fast (this Tuesday, 3/27.) To start things off, here are some stats on me (please forgive me if I don't give the right info, since I'm really new to this): 38 years old one child (currently 14 yo) 5'5" 115 lbs 30" around rib cage Could be considered either a full A or a small B (Not entirely sure--I've been told by some I'm a 32B and others I'm a 34A) My doctor has the following planned for me: Round Textured Silicone High Profile 400cc I'm not looking to be huge or anything, so now here I am at the last minute, having an anxiety attack about whether the 400cc will be too big. The doctor said they don't guarantee cup sizes, but that I would probably increase 1 1/2 cup sizesl. The nurse said that I'd probably be a D. To me, "D" sounds so big. At my pre op, I asked what the next size down would be and the nurse said 340cc. What would that possibly make my end result be? I've been doing all kinds of searching on the internet, looking at "before & after" pictures and I'm amazed at how one person can get 400 cc implants and look huge and another person can get 400cc implants and not look as big, even though they may look similar to begin with. I'm really torn about whether the 400cc will be the right decision, especiallly now that it's down to the wire and I go in for my surgery in just a matter of a few days. |

Id say just go with the 400. They will look smaller once inside your body and you get us to them so fast. Almost everyone gets boobie greed after and wishes they went bigger. have you tried the rice test. http://www.justbreastimplants.com/size.htm If not you should try it. it really helped me decided on my size.

I am 5'5 134 and have 425L/425R and so far i am a large C to a small D I wanted a full D but not sure I am going to get that. Once its under the muscle it dont look as big as it is. So my opinion would be go a little bigger than you are looking for. I learned from the other girls here that you loose 15% when you go with unders HTH OH and congrats on your upcoming breast augmentation |

Hi there! Like the others ladies say, go with the bigger implant, because they do look smaller once in your body. You want to get the most of the surgery. Good luck on your decision and keep us posted after surgery. |

I would go with the 400cc- you get used the size really quickly. I had silicone 320cc and although I'm happy with the 'volume' I wish I'd gone slightly larger as I wanted to be a full C but sometimes I don't quite fill out some of the bras, depending on the style. I have a 30" rib cage and I'm 5'4 which makes us similar. I had McGhan anatomicals and the only thing I'd change is I would have gone with HPs with a little less width to look more natural (this would have meant a slight jump in volume but with the extra projection I would have filled out the bras properly. I could'nt decide between 280cc or 320cc but on the day I went with the 320cc as I thought I might regret it and I'm soo glad I did! The main thing to me looking back is I was so concerned about getting the cc right I completely overlooked the profile- this is MUCH more important- well, to me anyway..... good luck.... I think you'll be very pleased with the 400's. Oh, and you don't mention if you're having unders- if you are then I think you should add an extra 15%.

Just echoing what everyone else has said, stay with the bigger size! I'm similar in size to you except I was a very flat 34A, and I got 421R/457L. For the first few days I was kind of upset that I'd gone too big, so prepare yourself for that, but once the swelling went down and they started dropping Im very pleased with my results. The thing with implanted breasts is you may have to wear a D, but you will probably not look like what we envision as a D cup. For example, so far I can comfortably wear a 36D bra, but unless I want to show off in a very revealing top, I look like a C cup in clothes. You will get used to the bigger size very quickly

![]() | I agree with you....
....when I first heard "D", I was like oh my gosh that is HUGE. Now that I have looked at so many pictures of implants and done more research, D is not as big as I once thought. I think it will complement your frame nicely. I say go for the 400. Keep us posted!

Thanks all of you, for your advice & comfort. I've been thinking about doing this surgery for a LONG time, but was never able to actually afford doing it until just this last month. I scheduled the surgery a month in advance and I almost wish I had scheduled it for immediately after my initial consultation. This last month has been HELL, because I've just been over-thinking everything day in & day out. I think that one thing that freaked me out the most is that no one looks the same. One person could be a 32AA and get 400's and look HUGE, but another person could start out bigger at a 32B and get 400's and look not as big. It's so confusing & overwhelming! I'm glad you pointed me in the direction of the rice test--I'll have to try that today. It also makes sense that you don't look as big when you're in clothes, because you don't always wear skin-tight low-cut tops every day! I'm very glad that I found this board last night because I was feeling really alone in this whole surgery thing. Sad to say, but my family (parents, sister, etc.) don't know that I'm having this surgery. They just wouldn't understand. So when I've been having all of this anxiety, I didn't really have anyone (other than my husband, who of course just says "go for it! big is great!") to talk it all through with. Especially anyone who really understands what I'm going through. Geez, sorry--didn't mean to rattle on so much and get all mushy on everyone. It's just such a big deal to me and I'm glad to have some people to talk to about it. (Just wish I would have found you all about a month ago!) |

I'm sorry but... before jumping in and telling you to go with 400cc, as everyone has, I just have to ask - because it wasn't specified in your post - did you tell your PS what you wanted? It sounds like he suggested 400cc and you asked what that would look like, HIS SECRETARY told you a "D" and you think that's too big??? What do YOU want? Did you tell your PS?? Obviously I would be freaked out too - your surgery is in a couple of days, give or take 1-2 haha (according to my vast calculations) and you're going with an implant size that will give you a size you don't seem to want, all this, according to your PS's secretary. EEK. Call back - and ask if the PS can bring in a range of implants at the surgery... which they usually do. Let them know what YOU want, bring photos if you have to - it's not too late. They can re-talk the size then and there, most PS's do! |

From my own experience, a lot of women on these breast augmentation forums want much bigger breasts than I would ever be comfortable with, and taking the advice to go bigger bigger BIGGER would be a mistake for me. You can see by my stats what I got, and if I stay this size, I'll be a small D. Anything bigger than a D and I'd feel a little too boobielicious for my own comfort, and it would be much harder to buy bras, and it's just not a look I was aiming for. You're absolutely right that the same cc amount looks completely different on everyone, and that makes it very hard to choose one, but that's why it should be your ps's job. You should tell him what you want, and he should know what to do to get you there! | |

I would echo the previous two posts. Instead of talking cup sizes and cc's, show and tell your PS the LOOK you want. Find pics of boobs that look good to you. Try on sizers. Take a picture of you in a stuffed bra that is the size you want to be and take that to your PS. A good, experienced PS should have the ability to convert what you want into the right number of cc's. Good luck! I so well remember over-analyzing, too. We can't help it, tho'. This is such a major decision and so important to us. Annie |

I too had anxiety...I chose 400cc and then couldn't sleep - afraid of being too big, so I went with 375cc's. Now I kick myself for not going with the most he could put in with the mod + profile. I know you are getting high profile so it is different. I don't think you will end up too big. I wanted a full C cup and got a 32D/DD. I am thrilled and wouldn't mind just a bit more...try the rice testers and see how you feel... I remember all the anxiety...it was a hardest for me to pick the size...all the rest was pretty easy...hope you begin to feel good with your decision... |

I say go with 400cc....there's no telling what size it will end up cupwise...but let me tell you .... a D cup is NOT scary, honest....any smaller and you may regret your decision...at least with 400s you really will be able to dress them up or down...it seems pretty much the average size on here ... better to be safe than sorry HTH x

Thanks again to all have showed me both sides of th coin. I did make the mistake of not taking in pictures for my initial consultation, which would have been a good idea. Oh, and I should probably clarify that the woman I talked to wasn't the secretary, she's the medical assistant. She's in with the doctor for all of the exams, and also there for the surgeries too. The I did tell the doctor what size I would like to be and after he did all of the measurements he said that the 400cc size would work well. In fact, he said that he thought I could actually go a little bigger (one size up) but that if I did that the base of the implant would be too wide for my measurements. I plan to call on Monday to ask them to have the next size down available "just in case" and then I will talk to the PS one more time to be sure before my surgery on Tuesday. I would like to tell you that talking to all of you here has helped me to feel more comfortable about opening up and I called my sister to tell her that I'm having the breast augmentation done. She was totally supportive, and in fact I was surprised to hear that she has thought of having one too in the past! Thanks again. |
