wrong implant, bottoming out, and hematoma...what's next?
Okay so about 3 days post op I looked at the mentor card the doctor's office gave me and it was the wrong size!!!!! I got 425 cc's f/u to 475 cc's....was supposed to get 475 cc's f/u to 525cc's!!!!! and then on my 1 day post op appointment I noticed that my right breast was about 2 inches lower than my left, at first I thought it was just some major swelling but then I could feel the implant and so could my DH...let's just say the right implant was pretty much on my last rib...I told the nurse and she said oh yeah that's the implant or swelling it'll go back up, don't worry about it....that was Saturday...on sunday night my DH called the nurse (different from the one that saw me on saturday) and told her that the right side was not swelling it definitely was the implant (and damn I was in pain, the only way I could relieve it was to hold it up and take extra meds)...she said to put a supportive non underwire bra on and you know the strap they give you to push the implant down, take it off and put it underneath to push the implant up (as tight as I could feel comfortable with) to support the breast so it wouldn't fall any lower...and to come in first thing monday morning so the doctor can see me...so on Monday we went in and he confirmed that the right implant was bottoming out and the under half of that breast had a hematoma (from the cleavage of the right breast to the outer side) which he would need to go back in and drain...so going back to the wrong implant size, I called the office as soon as I realized the mistake and she said my chart said 425 cc's but then I told her remember when we tried on the sizers you brought in the 450 and the 500 and told me the implant will be between those two sizes...(when I tried on the sizers the first time I liked the 500's)..but the doc said 475 is all that will fit, and that he fills the implants 50 cc's more so it would be 525 cc's...so going back to my appointment on Monday....the doctor and the patient coordinator apologized and admitted their mistake and I should have gotten the 475's filled to 525...The doctor said he will put in the correct implant if that's what I want...he would do whatever it takes to make me happy and satisfied...He has to go back in to take care of the hematoma anyways....So I told him I thought they would look bigger then this so yeah I definitely want to have the correct ones put in, it'll only be 75 cc's difference but I think it will make a difference, hopefully...and then I thought I wonder if he's going to make me pay anything...BUT NO it's going to be absolutely FREE!!!!!!!! Even though all this has happened its all fixable not any real big problems, thank God and I am so glad I chose this doctor, he has really earned my total respect as a person and as a doctor...Just thought I'd share my story...Do you guys think the 75 cc's will make a noticeable difference (imagine my avatar pic with 75 cc's more)? Oh yeah those are mentor mods...

I'm sorry you've got a hematoma and all of the other problems! Ouchie...
I don't think 75 cc's will make much of a difference, but if he's going in anyway, they may as well correct it. You've already been through the worst of it! When is your redo scheduled for?

Thanks, He said to wait ten days so that the risks are lower so maybe middle of April....he said that it shouldn't hurt as bad as the first time cause the pockets are already there...I hope so cause my husband used all his vacation time so I'm gonna be on my own kinda right after. If I get it done on a Friday that would be perfect, since my MIL can take the 4 kids Friday night til Sunday evening and DH works saturday but then my mom could help me and then DH is off sun, mon, tues....sorry just thinking out loud...

2 things........ONE, you have a very respectable PS and I am so glad for you. HE should do everything for free.....but his approach sounds very professional and I glad he admitted his mistakes. TWO, I think 75 more ccs will make a difference....because you hadnt dropped and fluffed yet, so I think you will be bigger than what you looked like anyway.
OH AND 3rdly.......I am so sorry sounds so painful.....I really think things are going to work out this time.....when is the surgery?

Oh my goodness, that string of bad luck. I'm so sorry about it, girl. Thankfully, you have a great PS who is humble enough to admit his oversight and correct it for free, unlike the PS of our other friends here.
Do keep us posted! We're excited to see your new gorgeous self soon! ![]()

Is it a good idea to go bigger if you have bottomed out?

I think it depends on why you bottomed out. If it is from thin tissue/ little support, then yes, going bigger wouldn't be a good idea. But with the bottoming out happening so soon post-surgery, it's more likely that the cause was surgeon error in making the pocket. The fact that he is fixing for free indicates that, too. So definitely ask that question, mamaof4, but I don't think it will be a problem.
Wow - you've been through a lot already! Hopefully, you can get it all taken care of soon and start enjoying those new girls! 75 cc's won'g make a bit difference, but I think you'll notice more fullness. You look really good in your avatar now! Slinky |

I am sorry you are going thru all of this. I feel as the others that posted if the ps feels your body can handle it, then you should get what was originally discussed. I do feel that 75cc will make a difference, it will be noticable, thats my opinion. Let us know when the surgery is scheduled for, sending much good thoughts, and happy healing this time.

Oh wow, you poor thing, that's rotten.
I'm glad you're able to get it all sorted out quickly and without cost. Fingers crossed for a better outcome this time.
