UPDATE. back to ER today. I was right I DO have a hematoma!! sooo mad at PS now..
So the bleeding incision wouldn't stop so my boyfriend took me back to the ER today. I waited 4 hours in the waiting room before being seen which took about 2 more hours between waiting for the nurse then the resident then the attending to look at me.. but I am very thankful they did. Apparantly I was right, I do have a hematoma in my right breast. That explains why my right breast is more swollen and higher than the left (and why I'm scared I might now develop CC since many times a hematoma will lead to CC). The blood gushing out of my incisions is the blood from the hematoma. They couldn't stitch it up or anything because they think that the blood draining out is a good thing. They just gave me more gauze and told me to put on a sports bra to compress it, which will make it bleed more but will also make the blood drain faster which I guess is supposed to be good..
Either way I am utterly pissed off. I spent more than half of the last 2 days in the hospital ER and waiting room, paid two 50$ copays (and I'm not even sure if the insurance will cover the visit so I may have to pay more.) all to find out I had a hematoma, which I KNEW I HAD all along. I AM SO MAD at my PS right now I could scream. At my one week post op I told him about my incisions, the difference between my boobs and how I was worried about a Hematoma and CC.. and he didn't even check it out. UGHHHH it's making me so mad just thinking about it. I debated between calling and writing an email to my PS and I'm not sure what to do. I want to write an email to him about how I feel and how I feel disrespected and neglected. And even better at my post op my PS told me my boobs looked the same, yet when I was in the ER everyone that looked at me could clearly see how bad my right one looked compared to my left. The only thing is, although the ER helped me more than my PS has I'm still nervous that since they are not plastic surgeons their advice may not be the best. Yet I don't even want to see my PS again, all I want to do is write that email and make a call saying that I'm going with another surgeion. So I'm split on what to do.. should I try to talk to my PS about my current situation?? should I just contact another PS closer to me and see what they think? You're advice means everything to me! :-) |

Aww, Abbey, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I would call your PS and tell him exactly how you feel. Did he refuse to see you before you went to the ER? If so, I would also tell him to expect a bill for the ER visit and a phone call from your attorney if he chooses to ignore you and the bills. You paid him too much money to be treated like that. You need to demand that he sees you tomorrow to examine you. If he doesn't see you, call an attorney. Get the ball rolling early.

I'm sorry hon about your complication.. if you are not comfortable with your current PS, than I would suggest going to another one. If you feel the need to write a letter to your PS, I would include of copy of the report on diagnosis from the ER regarding your complication (a copy not the original). Take care of yourself! And let us know what your new PS says.

You really do need to make your PS aware of what has taken place. Make sure you make copies of your emergency room documentation of a hematoma. Give one to your PS and save the original for your records. I would schedule an appointment and go see him in person to discuss the issue. (Take someone with you if you feel more comfy.) So sorry this has happened.

Whoa I feel really sorry that you had to go through this. No wonder you are pissed at your PS and rightly so. I agree with the others that you need to make your PS aware of what has happened. I hope it all works out for you. Best wishes.

GRRRRRR! Makes me mad hearing about it! You should request that your PS be sent the records from the ER. He needs to know that a doctor has seen you and that your concerns were very real. He also needs to know that he dismissed your concerns and he is liable. He should have been treating you for this, not the ER. I'm no legal expert by any means, but it sure sounds like he neglected you. I would make sure he gets the documentation, as well as a letter from you telling him that you expressed your concerns and that he didn't even examine you. Also that this has caused you financial charges, and had he examined you, probably wouldn't have occured. You have every right to be upset. I am so sorry you have had to go through this.

I definitely feel you should talk with your ps and let him know everything you just went through and found out on your own wich could have been prevented and treated right away if he had looked at it in the first place! Then you should find another ps who actually cares for their patients and one that will take better care of you like you deserve to be
What an a**! I do hope everything works out for you and I wish you a well & speedy recovery sweetie take care
