Unhappy OUCH!! Stitch coming out???

Hey JBI Sisters

I'm 10weeks out and my left crease incision has been hurting for a bit and i though it might have been cause of the underwire, but nope! My incisions are still covered with Silicone Tape last night i was feeling the incision and i felt a little lump on the inside edge, OUCHYYYYY it hurt like hell. Kinda felt like a BIG zit/pimple! Got my DH to pull back the tape and and he said it looked like a pimple, so he squeezed it, OUCHYYYYYY! Clear puss type stuff came (sorry )out and he said there was a black dot in it, when he went to pick it it felt hard like there was a splinter in in, OUCHYYYYYYYYYY!

I woke up this morning and it hurts even more but doesnt look as bad. I called my post op nurse who says it sounds like it might be a stitch knot and that i should come in ASAP so they can, and i quote "DIG AROUND" and get it out and in the mean time i should get anti-biotic's. I cant get to my plastic surgeon cause he is over an hour away and I'm working till Friday so i have to wait 5 days

Has anyone else had this, How did it turn out, I'm scared

Aww hun! Im sorry to hear this. Just know that the antibiotics is a good, precaution. Not that you need it right now, but it will definitely prevent anything from starting.

Last appointment I had a stitch poking out, it was sore. The PA snipped it and pulled it. It felt very weird, but wasnt that bad. She also applied some numbing stuff using a q-tip. After no pain or anything..

You will find sweetie! Did they advise you to use neosporin? I was advised to use neosporin after she snipped it because there was a tiny hole. Maybe you can use it now to help? That even have neo with pain reliever now.

HTH and try not to worry!!

You are very welcome!!

I am such a girl too. When they pulled out the drains, which is the weirdest feeling ever, I got a tad light headed like whooooa! I quickly came to, and didnt pass out - but I know exactly what you mean.

Definitely use that Savlon stuff, it will help for sure. I bet it will be quick and easy. A lot of girls spit stitches, and sometimes even get them pulled out if they fall out or dissolve on their own.

Good luck!

Speaking of splitting stitches... How the hell could i have done it? Or is it just one of those freak things that happen on there own?

Sorry, I should have clarified.

There is splitting and spitting. Splitting when you split a stitch in the middle of healing, which can cause the incision to open even..

Then Spitting... Sometimes our body once its healed pretty good or close to - will reject the sutures so to speak and "spit" them out. So that might be what happened here. Its something that happens often, and nothing you did wrong. The nurse even told me to expect it.. so far none for me. But she said IF it does leave it alone, and come in they can snip it out. They either fall out on their own, or they snip it out.

the same thing happened to me although it was AFTER my plastic surgeon took out the stitches. a little spot on my areola was hurting and it kind of looked like a blackhead. i thought i would just squeeze a teeny bit and take it out but out came a knot. i freaked out and called my hubby. he had to hold me down while he took out the stitch and cut it himself (he's good at these things) but i was soooo scared. i'm glad i let him do it because i didn't feel a thing after that. just put a little anti-biotic lotion ( forgot the name ) and all was well
later when i asked my plastic surgeon about it he told me exactly what mai52takn had said about the body "rejecting" the stitch.
don't worry you will be ok!
