Still hope? numbness 7.5 months later

OK, I am really getting depressed here. I am 7 1/2 months post-op with major numbness underneath my breasts and in my nipples. If I pinch hard enough, I get some sensation. But I have NONE with regular touches. It is really affecting me because I hate that I can't feel my husband's touches (oh yeah, and that numb feeling is awful on it's own!).

Is there any hope that I'll get full, or even close to full, sensation back still? I was holding onto hope because both breasts seem to be the exact same so maybe it would still return. But I'm becoming very depressed about it.

On the good side- LOVE the look of them. They look so natural and feel much softer than I expected. I just can't enjoy them when I can't feel them!

My doctor said that it can last up to 2 years. But that if it's still that way at 2 years, it will always be that way. Hang in there!

My doc had some window in length of time too, but I wasn't sure if he was just saying that to make me feel better. Good to hear yours said that also.
I'm hoping somebody on this board had numbness disappear much later after surgery so I can still hope for the best.

A friend of mine lost her sensation permanently, and told me I would, however I didnt have much sensitivity preop so it wasnt taht big of a deal, They were numb for a while after BA, but in the past couple months Ive been getting back more and more, but now geesh they are very sensitive. I think it is different with everyone, some lose sensitivity while others may get more sensitvity. The bottom of my breast still have some numbness, but it is coming back slowly as well. Im 7 months post op. You may still get some back.

My left nipple is still numb a month out and underneath both breast is completely numb. I wouldn't know if you scratched or touched them! My friend who was over today asked me if they were numb. She's had a BA for 3 years now. Her nipples are OK but underneath they are still numb will probably always be.

Don't give up yet - you may still get more sensation back. For some women, it just is very, very gradual. If you even have some now, I think that's a good sign. I know between 8 - 12 months out, I started having zingers again and most of the sensation of my left side was back to normal. Hopefully, you'll get that, too!

Im almost a year(nov 24th) out and still have numbness. Drives me crazy. The right is worse than the left. It feels like my skin hasnt stretched enough or something and its a tingly feeling. I dont know how to describe it but its irritating lol

Aww!!

I know boobies are different. But I was told with my husband who had nerve damage and such during a surgery that it can take years for nerves to regenerate. My husbands surgery was 6 years ago, and still to this day he is regaining nerve and feeling in his foot. (his aorta ruptured in surgery and caused blood loss which killed off nerves down his left leg)

Anyhow, just wanted to say there is DEFINITEY still hope. Your situations obviously is no where near as bad, so Im sure in time your nerves will come back and you will regain sensitivity and feeling!!!
