![]() | Has anyone had a Hematoma? what are the signs? If you have when did you get it and what were the signs? Was it painful? Obvious? I am probably worrying for no reason -- but I would love to know more. I am two weeks post op TODAY. I have some pretty bad bruising on my right boob. I am not completely freaking because I am on coumdin (blood thinners) which means I bruise much easier -- and I have had a tough time with underwire fitting me (think I finally found a better bra yesterday) -- to the bruising looks like it is right around where the wire was pushing in. The bruising is the yellow ish brown (not dark red like would would assume with a Hematoma. Anyway feed back would be much appreciated. ;-)

![]() | i had a hemotoma 11 days post opp. my breast got a really sharp pain like behind my nipple then it swelled up like a frickin balloon in a matter of minutes. it hurt like hell, was hard as a rock, was hot to the touch, and blood was seeping from my incisions. it was pretty gnarly and if you had one you'd know trust me. lol i was freaking out when it happened. bruising after surgery is normal so i wouldn't worry too much. now if you start to get symptoms out of no where like what i had.. Then worry and call ur doc. good luck. |

You were aloud to wear an underwire 2 weeks post? I was given a 4 week restriction on that (I had a crease incision) If you look at my pics you can see that I was VERY bruised, but it has finally started to go away. I had a bruised bulging area that was caused from my abdominal wrap not being closed the whole way at the top and they said it was a small hemo and I was able to correct it. Is your bruising worse than mine? Is it swollen at the darkest area?

![]() | This is probably not helpful:)
I had bad bruising a few days later (purple), and I called my plastic surgeon and was also worried about hemotmoa. He said bruising is normal. I'm assuming your meds are making this happen. I also think (not sure, though) that hemotoma is painful. Like me, you are probably just a worrier, but you are probably fine. I think it's also swollen with hemotoma.

Hi, regarding your post. I've seen a lot of hemotomas and they are very bright in color, very swollen and hot. You run a fever with one too. As for the underwire.... I wouldn't wear that, try the brand "DanceSkins" sports bras the high impact and get one that is a size bigger t will still give you suport in the breats but be lax in the bottom around you at the incisions.... if you have crease ones. Did they give you a surgical bra? wear that one. I am so sorry to hear of all you gals that had the bruises - I didnt have any! My surgeon was great - they gave me a nice Robe and two bras and the surgical center was awesome too with their care.... I hope you fell better soon, try the sports bras they worked for me... especially sleeping in them, helped with the pain and comfort :-)

Hi all, I had surgery a few weeks ago and developed a post-op hematoma under the areola on one side. The surgeon did not drain it. It leaked blood on its own. He said that my body was naturally dealing with it by leaking it out and also by absorbing it inward. The hematoma was apparent when the bandages were removed three days post-op. When the stitches were removed six days post op it had dramatically worsened. One week later, my areola/nipple complex was dead. I now have an open wound where my areola once was, and am facing reconstruction. For those of you who developed a post-op hematoma, may I ask a few qestions? First, did your surgeon drain the hematoma? If so, was it done under a general anesthesia or with some other type of sedation? Did anyone develop a hematoma and not have it drained? What was the outcome of your hematoma? I would love to hear your experiences, and appreciate it very, very, much, as I am struggling to understand why the hematoma was not drained. |
