Hi,
I recently had a BA: 650cc silicone overs. My left breast is gorgeous; round smooth...beautiful. Unfortunately, my right breast has one large ripple/wrinkle on top right at my cleavage area. My plastic surgeon said he could do fat injections to the ripple. When I had my BA I also had a small amount (very minimal) of fat injections to my lips. So, I am aware of the process and recovery (they are swollen and then reduce in size). Is this something you do (fat injections for ripples)? How is it done? ie; over fill the ripple area with the fat? Does it take more than one fat injection? Does it cause the skin to lift? (like a thin pencil is under the skin)? The ripple is not noticeable when standing still and very straight with shoulders back...otherwise it is VERY noticeable (basically all the time).
Thank you for your time,

I am 5'1", 105 lbs. My plastic surgeon put in 325cc Mentor mod profile. They are so wide and tall on me. Apparently mods aren't used very often by other surgeons because they are so wide? I called his office today to see what my breast width was pre-ba and the office assistant said that she doesn't think that he takes that measurement! My question is: Is measuring the breast width and staying within that for implants a standard practice or do most surgeons just "eyeball it"? What has your experience been with other colleagues and how they practice? I'm so frustrated because this is a very highly credited plastic surgeon.

Hello,

I had a BA on 11/6 and was given IV antibiotics as well as 3 days of erythromycin post op. I must admit, 3 days didnt seem like much. Now, I've been diagnosed with an infection in my left breast, drainage, pain, fever, etc. Now, I'm on Levaquin while I await a culture. In your experience, have you successfully treated infection with antibiotics rather than additional surgery? Or have ever had to go directly back to the OR for drainage or removal?
I really appreciate your time and any information you may be able to provide.

Dear Dr. Kearney,

I have booked my BA for January and the surgeon suggested 330 f/t 360 (saline) Mod for me. My BWD is 12.5 and ribcage 32 in. Wearing a 34 A currently.

He suggested mod projection, but I am wondering if "mod plus' would be better for me given the 330-360 cc we are talking about. I noticed on the Mentor website that the diameter of the moderate implants at that range, are larger than my BWD.

I had read that using an implant w/diameter larger than your BWD could increase the change of rippling. Is that true ? I want to avoid visible rippling.

I would like a natural look, however do not mind the additional projection that would come w/a Mod Plus, as i'm not going really large in cc. My goal is to be a full C cup if possible.

Could you please tell me whether you would you suggest Mod or Mod Plus for me ? Would your opinion change on this if the Allergan implants were used instead of Mentor ?

Thank you in advance for your expertise !

I am booked in for my Breast Augmentation in about 8 days. My Plastic Surgeon suggest that i get between 325 - 385cc, High Profile, over the muscle and textured implants. I have decided on the 385cc, but i am unsure on going over the muscle. I have heard there are alot more complications with overs and also i dont have much breast tissue there to start with. I am also unsure on the textured implant especially if it is going over the muscle. I was wanting to go under with smooth implants and areola incision but was told that i cant get under the muscle with the areola incision... is this true?

I am 177cm tall, 57kgs and a 12A currently.

I am looking for a 'general' answer and not one specific to me (as I know you could not possible do that w/o a consult!).

Assuming no lift is needed..
When a plastic surgeon chooses the best amount of cc, does the fact that a patient breast fed children have any influence on the amount of cc? If so, does this generally allow them to go higher or lower in cc?

Last questions... Is it generally advisable to go the same size as nursing breast size and are there any problems associated with going smaller?

Thank you so much, I appreciate your response.

The material from my Plastic Surgeon states 'no infections in the body" when having a BA.

Does toenail fungus count as an infection such that I should not consider a bA until i can take prescription lamisil (tablets) for 90 days?

I have it on 2 toenails...not losing the nail, but they are thickened and whiteish near the tops/end of the nail. It is a stubborn thing to get rid of. I've been trying but guess I need to try something else. Heard that the Dermadoc product is good, haven't tried that yet.
Thanks for your response Dr. Kearney.

Hi Dr Kearney,

Hi Dr Kearney,
5 months ago I had my BA here in New Zealand and at my last consultation with my surgeon we agreed on Mentor, over the muscle, anatomical breast implants. The sizes were 350 L and 375 R because my right breast was just a little smaller than my left but you really couldn't tell that there was much of a difference. Now this where the story gets crazy.
On the day of my surgery my surgeon wrote on my chest 350cc L and 380cc R. I wasn't going to make an issue out of 5cc's so went into surgery thinking all would be okay. After a week of having my implants in, I started to get suspicious that the left implant was much smaller than the right and the difference was staring me in the face every time I looked in the mirror, so when I went back for my follow up several weeks later I asked my surgeon to confirm what size implant he had put into my left breast.

To my dismay and horror he told me that he had placed a 330cc into my left breast. Oh my goodness, I couldn't believe it and this whole experience has been a nightmare. My surgeon's reason for the 330cc in my left breast instead of a 350cc as we had agreed, was that the Mentor range don't come in 350cc's and he didn't even bother to tell me this before my surgery.
I have since been to a second surgeon on my surgeon's request who has written up a report to say that the left breast implant should be removed and a matching size implant of 380cc be implanted and I am about to go into negotiations with my surgeon to fix the problem. On top of this, I also have rippling but only when I bend forward or lay on my side.

My question to you is this:
Now that it's been 5 months and the right breast has settled and will still be settling for at least another 7 months, should I have BOTH breast implants removed and replaced with the same sized implant because I am very afraid that if only the left implant is replaced it won't catch up with the right implant that has been there already for 6 months.
Dr, I am so confused and really need some advice. I never dreamt that this would ever happen and it's been such an emotional rollercoaster for me and my husband because he has to listen to me moaning about it. Thank you for reading my story and I hope to hear from you soon.

I ask this because I had a breast augmentation in March 2008 (480cc saline, smooth/round, complete submuscular). My left breast dropped much quicker than my right, the implant is much more palpable, and rippling is very visible on the outside edge. In my opinion, it does not have a nice shape and does not sit high enough on my chest. I am able to hold a few pencils in my crease! LOL! My plastic surgeon is 6 hours away and we have communicated through email, but through the pics I have sent him, he seems to see no problem. My right has never dropped completely, and all that he suggests is lowering that one to match the left. My suggestion of a lift was disregarded.

I visited another surgeon about 3 hours away, who suggested a full anchor lift on both of my breasts to get them how I'd prefer them. I'd just like to have a nice slope that doesn't start INCHES down from my armpit, and a roundness to the bottom of the breast, so I can go braless if I'd like without looking like I need support.

I have included a few photos if you wouldn't mind taking a look, as your opinion would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time!
