I am 5'1", 105 lbs. My plastic surgeon put in 325cc Mentor mod profile. They are so wide and tall on me. Apparently mods aren't used very often by other surgeons because they are so wide? I called his office today to see what my breast width was pre-ba and the office assistant said that she doesn't think that he takes that measurement! My question is: Is measuring the breast width and staying within that for implants a standard practice or do most surgeons just "eyeball it"? What has your experience been with other colleagues and how they practice? I'm so frustrated because this is a very highly credited plastic surgeon.

Hello,

I had a BA on 11/6 and was given IV antibiotics as well as 3 days of erythromycin post op. I must admit, 3 days didnt seem like much. Now, I've been diagnosed with an infection in my left breast, drainage, pain, fever, etc. Now, I'm on Levaquin while I await a culture. In your experience, have you successfully treated infection with antibiotics rather than additional surgery? Or have ever had to go directly back to the OR for drainage or removal?
I really appreciate your time and any information you may be able to provide.

Hi Dr Walden,

5 months ago I had my BA here in New Zealand and at my last consultation with my surgeon we agreed on Mentor, over the muscle, anatomical breast implants. The sizes were 350 L and 375 R because my right breast was just a little smaller than my left but you really couldn't tell that there was much of a difference. Now this where the story gets crazy.

On the day of my surgery my surgeon wrote on my chest 350cc L and 380cc R. I wasn't going to make an issue out of 5cc's so went into surgery thinking all would be okay. After a week of having my implants in, I started to get suspicious that the left implant was much smaller than the right and the difference was staring me in the face every time I looked in the mirror, so when I went back for my follow up several weeks later I asked my surgeon to confirm what size implant he had put into my left breast.

To my dismay and horror he told me that he had placed a 330cc into my left breast. Oh my goodness, I couldn't believe it and this whole experience has been a nightmare. My surgeon's reason for the 330cc in my left breast instead of a 350cc as we had agreed, was that the Mentor range don't come in 350cc's and he didn't even bother to tell me this before my surgery.

I have since been to a second surgeon on my surgeon's request who has written up a report to say that the left breast implant should be removed and a matching size implant of 380cc be implanted and I am about to go into negotiations with my surgeon to fix the problem. On top of this, I also have rippling but only when I bend forward or lay on my side.

My question to you is this:
Now that it's been 5 months and the right breast has settled and will still be settling for at least another 7 months, should I have BOTH breast implants removed and replaced with the same sized implant because I am very afraid that if only the left implant is replaced it won't catch up with the right implant that has been there already for 6 months.
Dr, I am so confused and really need some advice. I never dreamt that this would ever happen and it's been such an emotional rollercoaster for me and my husband because he has to listen to me moaning about it.

Thank you for reading my story and I hope to hear from you soon

Hello I have a question for you but before I ask I will tell you a little about myself and what is going on. I am one year post op from a redo BA and I developed CC so my plastic surgeon went in and fixed it on 10/7 and while he was in there fixing the cc he said that part of my problem was that my implant had filped upside down so he turned it around. Well I just had my post op app today and my plastic surgeon seems to think that the implant has fliped yet again. He has also told me that he has never had anything like this before and is not sure on what to do about it. I was just wondering if you have ever had anything like this before? If so what do you do to fix it? Is there any way for me to massage it and flip it back myself? Im am feeling very alone right now and have never heard of anything like this before either and just trying to get some imformation on it. Thank you for your time!

I have had 3 consultations and have decided, pretty much, on a surgeon. However, I have inverted nipples and 2 said that they will probably pop out with the BA. One says, they may pop out, but looking at them, he doubts it and is willing to do it at the same time. And one of the surgeons says it's not safe to do it at the same time. What is your view on this?

Can you please help me?

I have a full A small B on the left and a small A on the right and will be getting 250cc and 350cc respectively to fix the asymmetry.. Because of the difference in size my left nipple also falls about 2cm lower than my right. My plastic surgeon said he could do a mini-lift which would just essentially move my nipple up to match the right but said it is not truly a lift and isnt necessary but would be cosmetic if the nipple differences bothered me. But later he sent me a note thanking me for coming for the consult etc. and said that while the mini lift was not necessary it may help fix the asymmetry I have... Do you think he was referring merely to nipple placement and not breast size??

I dont really want to pay more for the mini lift if the only difference it will make is nipple placement cause no one but me and my husband sees my nipples and neither of us really care but now I am worried it will affect more than just nipple placement....

Can you explain this please?
