Pole fitness classes :D

So, I found a pole fitness class in my area. 70 a month or 150 for a ten class punch card...not sure what would be the better deal. I got the spins down on the pole, but I want an instructor to teach me some of the harder ones, so I decided to go with a pole dancing class. They also have ariel dancing..the fabric you climb...so I am going to take that as well. I just wanted to share how excited I am anyone take any kind of classes like these?

I took one block of pole dancing fitness. Here I thought I was looking all cute doing this one move. It was on the floor. Caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, omg, I looked like an alligator going thru some weird death dance. That ended that. I stick to running now. Lol. But the ariel dancing looks very interesting. I'd probably look like a dying partridge though. Lol

Hi there! I have been taking pole classes for a while now and I am absolutely obsessed!

I took classes for about 5 months - and then my instructor thought I was doing so well that she wanted me to become an instructor! :-) But then I relocated and never completed my fitness license. However I was HOOKED and bought a pole for my house.

I have started taking classes again about 3 or 4 months ago... I'm doing more advanced moves and it is NOT advised to do some of those alone without a spotter, lol, so I go to classes to have instructors and fellow pole junkies help me out!

All in all it is GREAT fitness, though - tones your body perfectly!

Oh yea - I also do silks/hammocks (the arial fitness that you're referring to). They actually work great together... the moves and muscles that you work on in pole REALLY help you excel in silks/hammocks, too!

..I can talk about either for DAYS... so I'll shut up here unless you have any questions.. lol

I used to think it was ridiculous that women were doing this as exercise! But I've been watching videos and some of the moves look as difficult and athletic as gymnastics. So my mind has opened to it a bit. My SO is already salivating at the prospect of my new boobs, so I can't imagine what would happen if told him, "oh, and I want to learn to pole dance"!

I love those classes! I have taken the pole dances and also the erotic dancing classes that's just basically floor moves but still a great workout. I haven't done it for a while...maybe I will start up again after my ba!

I just did mty first class last night and it was a blast. I went in there very confident knowing i knew a few things already so all the new girls kind of looked at me. lol. My instructor said I am actually very strong and have a ton of muscle control for being new....so that made me feel good. gonna practice on my pole today....tomorrow i do arial dancing, CANT WAIT!!!! Thursday night we have a dance off at the sky bar.....but i cant go and watch cause i have to work graveyard. yuck

I have an x-pole. They're great. If you buy them on ebay or used though you have to be careful your not buying a fake.

For you ladies that do pole fitness and have had your surgery already - how long after surgery were you able to get back on the pole?

I've been taking classes for quite some time, and have a pole at home... I'm pretty advanced at this point, and I'm nervous about getting implants under the muscle, but def. don't want implants over the muscle... I already have breasts (34C) and I'm not going very large (375-425cc) so I'm not concerned about them being in the way.. moreso concerned that I won't be able to climb and do certain moves without beating the crap outta my implant..

.. any thoughts?

OMG, your too funny! I needed that laugh. Seriously, i heard there's a class really close. Was kinda chicken to take it though. I have a problem with laughing. I kinda get into trouble at classes because I start laughing when Im supposed to be serious. My daughter and I were asked not to come back to yoga because we couldn't look at each other without cracking up! Ill have to re-think the pole dancing.

i used to take these classes at a pole studio before i moved. i LOVE them. can't wait to go home for the summer, i'm going to go a bunch a times each week!! hope you enjoy them as much as i do!

It took me about 3 months before I felt healed enough to climb and invert again. I was chicken and it felt really weird to use my chest muscles.

it's seriously the best upper body workout i think you can do! i did p90x and pole classes made me gain more muscle and be stronger than p90x ever did. it's great for core too. and you can incorporate lower body work as well, but i still think i get a better work out with p90x or brazil butt lift videos though
