Abnormal mammo results

I had my pre-breast augmentation mammo on the 25th. Well the hospital calls me back today to come back for an U/S and another mammo on the right breast. The lady on the phone said they seen something suspicious and it needs to be rules out I'm so sad. I'm only 28...I'm praying this is nothing.
My mom, and Dh said not to jump to conclusions...its probably nothing. My docs secretary said she hears this all the time...and it comes back as nothing. Also, the day I went for my mammo was the first day of my period. Maybe whatever they see has something to do with that. So i have to go back May 7th for the mammo and U/S. I want to get in NOW!! Surgery is supposed to be in 15 days! But of course the booking lady doesn't care...i don't expect her too...but HOLY SH*T!!
Did this happen to anyone here???? I need to pound a few back

It hasn't happened to me but it did to my close friend. She was so scared but it was only a calcification. It's scary, but often turns out to be nothing. So don't fret at this point.

Big Hugs to you.

It happened to me!

Don't worry about it. I had my first mammo one month before my surgery was scheduled. The radiologist saw something on my right breast and wanted my OB/GYN to look at it. I was freaking out!!!! But mainly b/c I didn't want it to affect my surgery date. Really the important thing to worry about is your health.

So anyway, I had to see a general surgeon who reviewed the films and felt that it was just a small cyst and nothing to worry about. I could go ahead w/surgery and keep an eye on it.

Six months post-breast augmentation I had the right breast mammo'd again. No change, which is good. Now I'm back on a yearly mammogram.

So when I say "don't worry about it", I mean don't worry until you KNOW you have something to worry about. So many women have cysts, calcifications, etc. that are totally benign and end up being nothing, but I know it's scary.

KEEP US POSTED AND GOOD LUCK!!!

haveing a mammo on any day between day 13and day 4 of your cycle can produce a abnormal result. on the day of the start of ovulation your breasts start swelling and with some people this can cause lumps soreness or just a odd appearencethis can continue intill day 5 of your period.

there are loads of other things that can cause a strange result stress/worry. some herbal remadys, and some cough medicine as well as perscriptions meds.

try and remember that a mammo is not a indercation of something being wrong its just a step towards checking stuff is right hth

My first mamo came back abnormal and they ordered an additional mamo and an ultrasound. I went in for the second mamo and they took the pics and the nurse asks me if anything had happened to my left breast...scar tissue, injury....I take my gown off and she says - a mole. The first mamo picked up a mole on my breast and made it look like a tumor. They put a metal ring around it, re mamoed it and sure enough thats what was showing on the mamo!

My Mammo tech told me that a lot of baseline mammos are called back and redone since they don't have anything previously to go by. You might call back and ask to be put on a list to be called if there is a cancellation. I did that and was called back that day. Otherwise I would have had to wait until mid May.

GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!!

I did actually ask if there was a cancellation list and she said No...as many people coming back for redos don't cancel....

This happened to me too...

I had to have my first mammo before my breast augmentation (I'm 32), but I wasn't scheduled for the mammo until 8 days before my breast augmentation. They found abnormalities and told my PS within an hour while I was still there for my pre op health screening. I got another appointment within 2 days for more pictures and an ultra sound.

I was so horribly upset, I was so scared that there 'might' be something wrong and sad at the thought that my breast augmentation might be cancelled too.

It turned out that I have multiple cysts in my right breast. They said that they could drain them if I wanted, but I said no and the PS was ok with doing the surgery. But I was so upset over the whole thing. Now I'm glad I had it all done and have a baseline done pre breast augmentation.

I know it's really hard not to stress over all this, but try as best you can to not think about it too much. Like the others have said.. it's really not uncommon to go back for more pictures with your first mammo.

Sending you lots of healthy boobie vibes

Is there anywhere else you can go that your insurance would cover??? I know where I went they had several offices in close by towns that I could have went to instead, might want to chekc to you can go earlier. Big hugs to you!

That didn't happen to me, but I have heard of things showing up in Mammos that end up being nothing. They just have to rule it out, I am sure it will be just fine! Good luck!
