I wore a sports bra after both of my ba's. It definitely helps with the pain in my opinion!

It depends on your ps. My ps doesn't believe in any bra after until at least a few months if it is your first ba and after your 1st ba you can wear a bra after 6 weeks-3 months depending. My ps doesn't like anything "on" them. I couldn't even wear the top part of my seat belt at first.

If your PS gives you the go ahead to wear bras, I recommend the Fruit of the Loom ones Walmart sells for $8. They are very comfortable!

MY PS had a compression bra on me in recovery and gave me an extra one as well. They arent very pretty but they definatley keep you supported. I would as your PS in advanced if he/she has not already told you anything. I personally would rather have something to hold them up than nothing, when I take my compression bra off it doesnt feel very comfortable for the first few days especially..

best advice, do what your PS says....

Mine said NO bra - and he said "if I MUST" wear one, make sure it is very loose fitting. I go for my 3 week appt on Tuesday (unless the snow storm causing a reschedule) I'm curious to know WHEN I can start wearing something.

5 weeks PO was sized a 34DD (at 3 places, Nordstroms, VS and Dillards - all 3 said 34DD)
3 months PO - went back to Nordstroms and was sized a 34DDD

I let the PS decide during the surgery what will be best for my body! So happy he put in 550cc silicone under muscle

I think it really all depends on what your PS says. Some PS's want them to drop naturally right away so they don't want you wearing a bra. Some PS's have different "cycles" I guess for your breasts so they have different recommendations for what you should or should not wear and when you wear them. HIH!

Mine said surgical bra's, or the bra's that close in the front. After one month I could wear any kind again.
Good luck, be sure to go with whatever you PS tells you!

Your PS knows best! I was in bandages for a week right after. When I got the bandages off I was told to wear a sports bra. I got mine at Target. I am allowed to wear underwire bras now but most of the time I am still in a sports bra because that is what I feel comfortable in right now.

I wore my surgical bra they gave me after my surgery. My post-op was a week after it. Then my PS I can wear anything without a wire in it so now I am wearing those Wal-Mart front closure bra's that are 2 for $10.00. They are real comfy and help with support.

Mine says surgical bra 1st week, sports bra 2nd, and then i can go to underwire if it is comfortable on incisions... But, i should keep them well supported either way for the 1st few months!!!

I wore a stretchy bandeau bra. It was so comfy and my surgeon chose it so that my boobs would drop more naturally.

I have to wear a cross between a surgical, sports and feeding bra! its an all round bolder holder!
It's very tight and not very comfortable cause the band feels so tight and thick.. got to wear it for 6 weeks.. oh joy.. 3 weeks left!

My PS gave me pictures with the brands and types of sports bras to buy along with the sizes. It was nice because it even listed where to buy them. I am to wear two sports bras post surgery after the bandages are off at 1 day post op, then must wear them for one month following surgery 24/7, obviously not when showering. Definitely following my ps's advice to the "T".
