Weight and BA... should I lose?

Ok so I'm 19 and looking to get my first breast augmentation in January 2008, I'll be a big 'ol 20!

So I was wondering since I have about 7 months to begin preparing and searching for a doctor, should I begin losing weight so my BA might turn out better?

I'm about 5'5 and 160 LBS. I could stand to lose some weight seeing as I'm not content on what I weight now.

Really my question is, if I went for a consult, would the doctor tell me to lose weight for the BA? Or does it really make a difference?

Did anyone lose weight beforehand? And how did it effect your results?

I really do want to buckle down and get on the ball with this. I am such a procrastinator. And I want to feel better about myself even before the augmentation.

Any input on ths would be great! Thanks!

Amber

I don't think weight would matter - esp. since it's not as if you're HUGE. If you've been wanting to lose weight anyway then it might be a good motivator (?) to slowly work towards your goal over the next 7mos. Just make sure you make healthy changes so you don't go into the surgery w/ your body weakened. I would also talk to PS b/c he/she may have some advice more relevant to actual surgery (like maybe there might be skin issues if you lost substantial amount and maybe that would effect when you should be trying to lose- not sure but just a thought). Hope the is helpful- good luck and welcome!

Also- i checked BMI chart and you would only have about 15 pounds to lose to get to ideal- that's only about 2 pounds a month til BA.

I don't think losing weight would improve your results, unless you were significantly overweight to the point where you'd likely need a breast lift afterwards. In general though, the more breast tissue you have to cover an implant, the better your results are. If you were to get down to a really low bodyfat level where your breast tissue is almost completely gone and your skin is really tight, then you'd be more limited to how big an implant could fit in there. The amount of weight your talking about shouldn't make a huge difference though, unless you tend to gain a lot of weight in your breasts (I'm guessing that's not the case or else you wouldn't need a BA...), so go ahead and lose the weight first if you want to.

Well actually I'm probably different than most of the people wanting BA's. I am a 36C... Just over time I don't feel comfortable with them being not as full and perky. I had been smaller at one time and just have gone on a up and down with my weight causing my breasts to sag (not too much, not sure if I'll need a lift) and just lose their fullness. I hate the way they lay and just hang, ya know?

It's not a matter of really going bigger just fuller and perkier ultimately. But bigger is fine too as long as get the others.

I don't know if anyone has gone through that- being a bigger cup size and still wanting a BA.

I want to be at least a D if not DD and honestly want pretty perky "fake" looking breasts.

I'm strange I know.

Boobs-a-Bouncin thanks for checking that. That's not that bad I could do that! My ultimate goal would be to get down to at least 140 if not smaller but IDK if that'll happen with me. I love food. I need disapline.

Thanks for the help. Keep it coming! LOL

Also, another question seeing as I will only be 20 years old in january, silicone is out of the question right?

Is my only choice saline? Or can I get the gummy bear ones?

Hmm, in this case then it probably DOES make sense to lose weight first. Also, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's going to be extremely difficult for you to get a really "fake" look (most of us wish we had that problem!). You're going to have to go very large to get that with as much breast tissue as you have. And yes, you can't get silicone if you're only 20. Luckily, with as much breast tissue as you have, you should get great results with saline.

Have you gone on a consultation yet? It wouldn't hurt to go now and get an expert opinion about it.

Thanks for the info. I want to get as fake as I can without having HUGE boobs?

No I haven't gone yet. I will probably schedule some over the next couple of months and then hopefully get something squared away for January that way it's of of the way and I can concentrate on losing the weight and getting it done.

Yeah hopefully I get really good results with saline. And don't have any problems such as rippling and such.

The only worry I have is that the doctor I use (after much research) might not do a great job and I'll end up with bad looking boobies and have to spend the money to get them re-done.

And I know I should probably go as big as i can because I don't want to have boobie greed after they go down. LOL

I've done a lot of research in the past months on the different types of implants, textures and such but it's all blurry and confussing.

Can someone tell me what I might think about getting to maybe achieve the fake round look? The profile types, CC's, under, over etc? Just so I can keep that in mind?

Also the recovery time. I'm doing it in january because I get a week of paid vacation. Would that be enough? I could do it earlier. I don't know I'll just have to feel it out. I'd hate to be in pain in the Winter. Brrr...

Any info at this point would help a lot that way I can be ready to tell the doc's what I am looking to get.

Thanks.

I would say high profile, round, over the muscle, as big as your skin can stretch (maybe around 600cc's?). Just be sure to tell the PS you want the big round fake look because a lot of them assume you want to look natural and base their recommendations on that assumption.

Oh yeah, and with overs, a week is plenty of time to recover before going back to work, unless you have a very physical job. What do you do?

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind.

With overs is there more of a chance of rippling?

With unders does that make them look more natural?

I just hope after the surgery my boobs won't be even more saggy! I'd hate for that to happen!

I am just a lil 'ol sales associate at The Bon Ton. I only work 20 hours a week so it's not like I can't take a week off.

I'm actually considering getting it done sooner than January now just because well, with me and money laying around, well it doesn't stay in one place too long. LOL

But thanks for that info. I'm going to call around to a couple different places tomarrow and see what I can set up as far as consultations and quotes.

Thanks

Yea, overs do give a bigger chance of rippling... What looks fake and what looks natural depends totally on the person tho! If you don't for example work out your chest a lot it might be a better idea to get unders since you'll be needing saline (unless you want to wait two more years). That'd make the rippling lesser.

I doubt the surgery will make you saggier, if anything the opposite since it'll fill you up. Sag comes with time whether you get a BA or not but it definitely won't fastfoward the future sagging to come this instant!

And yea, if you are planning on losing the weight I would lose it before the surgery. You could go for a consultation but make sure they know you're planning on losing weight and the final size decision might have to be left for a pre-op. If you don't want to lose the weight then I really doubt a PS would tell you to lose any so don't worry about that one. You're not morbidly obese and it would not be a health risk considering the surgery.

Hey Im 19 also.. Ill be 20 on saturday.. i am getting my ba on august 14th.. I started working in an office about a year ago and gained 12 pounds.. besides trying to loose the 12 pounds.. i want to look the best possible for my new boobs and for the money i am spending.. I saw you said maybe youd like to loose about 30.. If you think you want to loose and you will be happier id say for all means go for it! All i am doing is walking/running and sit ups.. not killing myself.. and between now and january you have plenty of time.. Ive even been feeling really good lately bc im not eating as much as i used to and im eating very HEALTHY! Im not sure if that is what you are looking for.. but im very happy with myself that i am eating right and feel like i am taking more care of myself.. i think my ba is going to be a great turnaround for me!

Ok so I think I am going to get it done way before January. hoping to go to some consults next week.

I have a couple questions:

Since i am only 19 I can't particularly get silicone but someone told me that the doctor she went to (she's 21) entered her into a study and she recieved the silicone. Is that still going on? I'd love to do it and get the silicone instead of saline.

Can you tell me more about it?

Also, since I'm going for the "fake" look, will silicone achieve this?

What type of silicone would be best for me- not familiar with all but I know there's the gummy bear ones?

So inform me please!

I'd more than likely be going under the muscle through the crease. Pretty set on that I think. Unless my doctor informs me otherwise!

Thanks so much for your help!

Amber

If you are under either 21 or 22 (sorry forgot exact age) It is illegal for you to get silicone, in the USA.. I am pretty sure tiffany from NY was able to do it somehow, so hopefully she will respond. But as far as I know the study is only for people who are over 21or22.. Good Luck!!!

I guess the doctor told her that he does this for 19, 20, 21, 22 YO's. I don't know. And that she is part of a study and he calls it "off label use" for silicone implants. Maybe it is. But if it's available I want to do it.

What the difference between all the different type of silicone implants? And which do ya'll think would be better for me- unders, hopefully "fakey" DD.
