Pre-BA shopping list

Okay ladies, I need your help. With surgery coming up so soon, I've finally gotten the jitters and would like to focus that energy on being as prepared as I can possibly be.

what sort of things did you buy or wish you had gotten to help make the recovery process easier?

and please don't leave anything out, I'd rather be more prepared then necessary than not enough.

Thanks ladies!!

Here is some of the things I did.
-wash cloths, make sure dishes were clean and on counter level, had pillows propped up in bed and on the couch.
-make sure that you have your meds before surgery day, wet wipes incase you aren't able to shower, movies, magazines, ..couch..computer for jbi
-button up shirt and front closing bras, easy on pants or short. loose zip up jackets for if you get cold.
-take the lids off of your medicine bottle(if no kids around) if so put them in a zip lock bag and LABEL them right lol! Don't want to be taking the wrong pills.
-soup, crackers, gatorade, water. Those all made me feel better. You won't be able to exersice much so I wouldn't recomend to much junk food.

I'm sure there is more, that is just all I can think of now. I'm sure that other ladies will have stuff that I wish I would have thought of!! Good luck hun!!

Here's some more:

Dial Anti-Bacterial body wash
Baby wipes for freshening up,until you're cleared to shower
Stool softener
Travel Pillow,it was a life saver for me...when I had to sleep propped up with pillows
Bottled water, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt, protein bars....
Dry shampoo..to freshen up your hair
It might be a good idea to pick an extra front close sports bra....

Cool

Hey there, I havent had my ba as yet but I am going in october so i wanted to get prepared early here is a starting list that I have come up with for myself hope it helps:

1. A hoodie or some sort of top that has easy access (cause i think we gunna be too sore to get out of normal tops)
2. Every thing needs to be put at waist or boob hieght (for easier access)
3. Some of that antibacterial soap stuff - just to be sure that you got no bugs on your skin for before and after
4. Extra strength over the counter pain meds - ie panadol/nureofen(anti inflam)
5. Wheat pack or ice pack- been told these will be our best friends for back aches and swollen ta tas
6. I have gone and bought a bedside lamp so if i wake up in middle of night i dont have to try and get out of bed if i just want to sit there
7. some warm socks for in the hopsital and new jocks- (i dont wear the full butt covering jocks so hence the purchase
8. a hair band- one of those ones that pulls your hair and frindge out your face se you most likely wont be able to lift your arms
9. straws that bend - so you dont have to worry too much about the lifting of cans or cups or bottles
10. Some new sports bras- with no wire - just so when your bra that they give you is being washed you have some support until its dry

thats all i have come up with so far....hope it helps x

Dessire has a spectacular auraDessire has a spectacular aura
I am 5 weeks po so this is still pretty fresh for me. These were my must-haves:

hoodie & sweat pants (just one set)
front-button pjs (one or two sets)
frozen peas (4 of them, 2 to use & 2 to freeze)
bendy straws
TV tray to put next to my bed for supplies
stock of chick flicks
laptop
neck pillow (MUST have)
wedge pillows (nice to have)
regular pillows for propping (MUST have)
Sprite for nausea (I threw up for 2 days straight)
ES Tylenol and/or Tylenol PM for when you get off pain meds
Palmers Cocoa Butter - for incisions AND helps with skin tightness and possibly prevents stretch marks

Someone needs to keep track of your meds and make your meals for the first 2-3 days. After that keep easy-to-make food and/or combine that with restaurants that either deliver or do pickup!

Step stool for the kitchen was nice, so I could reach things higher up without straining.

Body pillow has been nice for the past 2 weeks or so, since I've been able to sleep on my side.... but I can't put my arms together so I hug the body pillow, and it keeps my hips in better position.

Already been said but needs to be stressed IMO:

STRAWS

TYLENOL PM (after you get off pain meds, you won't be able to sleep. These are a lifesaver.)

I always recommend to girls on here these ice packs from CVS that are called "peas" because they are little round balls inside so they resemble peas and so you can shape them and stuff and there are all kinds of sizes! I got 2 of the "large" kind. But I think they are better than peas because they won't smell after awhile and you can use them for many other things! I still use them even though I'm three weeks out and don't have any swelling, it just feels good after a long day in a bra, to put them on and relax

My shopping list has on it one of those pregnancy pillows apparently they are amazing for when you can't sleep in your normal comfy position in bed. I'm also buying lots of plain yogurt to keep my good bacteria levels up and mist importantly my box set of friends and sex and the city for hours of couch-sitting. I also already have a back massager that plugs in and sits on any chair or couch back. Instant massager and it'd pretty affordable and I'm sure will come in handy soon

I'd also add yogurt, fiber drinks and milk to the list - start drinking/eating them few days before your ops and post ops to avoid constipation. Do bring a barf bag with you to the ops as you may vomit on your ride home.

You may also want to set up your recovery station before you take off for your ops so that all can be ready when you get home. Here's what I did with my recovery station. Good luck!!!

Recovery Station:
- Uncapped bottled water
- Uncapped medicine bottle
- Set alarm for medication
- Place water, snacks, fiber drinks, yogurt/dairy drinks, reading materials, remote control, baby wipes, phone, chargers by bedside

my must haves

-easy to eat 'grab and go' food
-timer/alarm to remind you when to take your meds ( missing a dose, not pretty)
-fleet suppository ( laxatives/ stool softner didn't work for me)
-a table to keep everything close to you
-well stocked bathroom, lots of TP and fresh wipes
-face wipes ( I like the Boots brand No.7 from Target) to use on face and all over.
-anti-bac soap for incisions
-heating pad
-flexible ice packs
-wedge pillow ( bed bath and beyond)
-bendy straws
-something to keep all your meds in ( small bag / box)
-hair ties ( to keep hair out of face)
-soup
-crackers
....easy to digest food. You will have to take it easy for a while.

Hope this helps
