Cool Tubular Breast vs. Puffy Nipples

I have been researching the tubular/tuberous breast condition since I too have puffy nipples, trying to figure out if its a condition I have. I keep seeing that many of you with this condition state that you have constricted breast tissue at the bottom of your breasts. What does this tissue feel like?

I feel more like I just have larger, puffy nipples...but I don't feel any tissue constriction going on in there. My nipples and boobs look great when the nipple/areola is hard. And it seems to me that any "tubular" shape at all that I get is when my areola is soft and in its puffy state and the weight of my larger areola pulls down a bit on breast tissue to cause a bit of sag (which looks slightly tubular because my breast shape is a bit deflated now after weightloss). All of my breast tissue is extemely soft (not constricted) and does feel like some of that soft tissue protrudes a bit into my areola when it is puffy. My PS did not say anything about a tubular condition, but did mention I could reduce my areola size if I wanted. I told him the size of my areola doesn't bother me as much as just not having fullness in my breast, so I won't be reducing the areola. He pressed the areolas into my breast tissue to see how they responded and I remember him saying something about their musclar response...but I have blanked out to his exact wording. He also mentioned that the implants may even correct any areola sag/puffiness that have. Anyone out there with something similar to this going on? I realize that my nipples shouldn't change dramatically after surgery, but I also don't want to have cone-shaped breast either.

There are different severities involved with tuberous breasts. From other ladies in the forum I believe I have a moderate severity. This is because under the aerolas, I really had no tissue. like the bottom of my aerola was pretty much the bottom of my breast. I also had no tissue on the inside as in where my aerolas stopped on the inside there wasn't any "fatty" breast tissue it was just like the flat part of a chest. No roundess.

You may just have puffy aerolas. If you do have puffy aerolas and don't like them then I would probabyl get him to score the aerola to bring down the puffiness.

It's also possible maybe you just have a very mild form of tuberous breasts. You could ask him.

Thanks! I think I will ask him about it at my pre-op. I have a little over an inch from my "crease" to the bottom of my areola. And I do have a tad bit of fullness at the bottom of my breast, (yet very little still since my breasts are small). Any "fullness" that I do have does expand across my chest as a normal breast would....I think I may have a very mild case of it...or a case of heavy nipple...LOL. Good luck to you and thanks for your response!

My puffy nips always made my breasts look tuberous and its kinda like my nip disappears if its not hard. But after my breast aug the puffiness went away. I got the areola incision. Maybe you won't even need a reduction!

I don't know if this helps, but I had normal nipples pre-op and post-op those things are so swollen and puffy. I don't like it. I'm one week post op when I went to my PS, he said it was due swelling and the nipple is the softest tissue so it has to go somewhere.

I have noticed that around day 5 my nipples started to go back down....not hard but normal'ish. However, as soon as the swelling comes back (every evening) they puffy right back out. Even my DH jokingly said "your nipples where crazy out of surgery!"

The reason I am sharing this is because I want you to be prepared post op they could look super puffy, but hopefully it will calm down. HOH!

My first email exchange with Dr Revis where I provided photos, he brought up that I had a herniation of tissue into the areolas, which was creating the puffy nipple look, but was easily fixed. He said I had tuberous-like breasts, which might be the issue you want to discuss further with your PS. I hadn't even thought of it, but Dr. Revis suggested a benelli lift for me. I personally am going with what Revis suggests and not hoping that something will resolve itself. Maybe you should talk more at length with your PS about what your post-op look should be. I would be slightly worried, just because if there's a possibility that you might have screwy looking areolas after, or whatever issue is there hasn't resolved itself, do you really want to need another revision? I just hope it works out for you!

Bellisima will become famous soon enough
My nipples are super soft and I don't feel any constricted tissue or even know what that is supposed to feel like. When mine are hard, they look more normal and round. When I have taken pictures with about 45 degree angle from above, I can really see the pointed cone shaped look. Underneath my breasts I have one sort of undefined crease (on my right) with not much skin from it to my nipple. I am sure some sort of releasing will have to be done here to make my breast more round as it is sort of a straight line.

How many surgeons did you see? I'm asking because if you only saw one, you definitely want other opinions. If you breasts are tuberous and they are not corrected the first time around, I've read it is much more difficult to fix this condition when you've already had surgery with another doctor who did nothing about this.

I need a lift, because if I don't, I will have nipples that point downwards. The only time my nips are more in place and look "right" on my breasts is when they are cold.
