Can you have solar nails on surgery day?

Do I need to have these removed before surgery day?

Did any of you ladies have solar nails on surgery day??

I have acrylic nails, i havent had my surgery yet but i have asked my surgeon and assistant and they said as long as I remove my index finger nails. apparently the nail bed is a good indicator of when to refil the canula- bloodflow etc. HTH

Do you think a french manicure is ok, since you can still see the nail bed?

When you go under GA they put that clamp on ur forefinger so no nail polish, etc. I would just leave one nail natural just in case. You can get it refilled after surgery.

My nail lady is going to think I'm crazy when I ask for one natural nail. Oh well, it's a small price to pay for a successful surgery!

i had acrylic nails with florescent pink tips on when i had my BA... my surgeon said it was ok as long as the nail bed was clear.... but you should always check with your surgeon first... wouldn't want to wake up with one nail ripped off! LOL I had all my nails on when i woke up

I'm just going to get a clear coat put on for my surgery.

A French manicure will give some kind of tint to you nails... Whether you get a pink French or a white French so I think you should leave it off.

But then again if you get your tips taken off right before surgery they'll probably be pretty red.. At least mine were when I got mine off.. Scary thin and very red. So you should check with your PS. Mine was very adamant about no makeup.. I even got a scary picture in my package of papers, I don't believe he mentioned the nail polish but that's just something I've always done for surgeries

I'm still calling my PS to confirm. I was just curious if others were able to keep their nails.

My PS didn't mention it but I have OCD so I did not wear any polish, makeup, lotion, or deodorant.

I've heard differing information about this. Every surgeon is different. Mine didn't mention anything about having nails painted, or having acrylic nails. I know other women on JBI have said their PS did care, and they weren't to have anything covering their nails. Just ask your PS or his/her nurse. They'll be able to tell you about your surgeon's preference. HTH and GL!

sawdust is an unknown quantity at this point
As mentioned above its recommended that you don't have anything on your nails the day of surgery as its an important indicator used to determine your wellbeing during the surgery

When I asked my PS if I had to take off my polish (and batted my eye lashes like pretty please) he said it was important that I take it off so that my vitals could be monitored while i was under. That was enough for me, I took it off before surgery.
