Do you lose nipple sensation?

Do you still have sensation on your nipples after your BA? Or that is something that you lose after the surgery?

So far...

As of right now, my nipples are still numb-ish...however, I am only five days out. My mother's nipples were numb for about two weeks, then became hyper sensitive for a few months! I am confident that the feeling will return.

I had always had feeling on my nipples after BA. Then at week 2 they got super sensitive. One of them is fine now, the other is still feeling really sensitive that anything that touches it I get zings! I am happy to have feeling though, I would think it would be strange to have no feeling at all...

Hi Rudi87, I am not sure if I lost my sensation 100% for good but at the 5+month mark I have not regain my feeling yet. I have heard it takes up to a year to regain feeling so I can only hope and wait. I will be sad if the feeling never comes back though.=(

Cool

Im almost 2 months and my nipples are still numb, and kind of sensitive to the touch... I'm scared and i hope I do get my sensation back soon, but the only the reason why I'm not too worried is because i definitely see a big difference it was so much worse were I didn't even know if you touched them if i looked away, and know i definitely feel it but its super sensitive!!! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed cause I miss involving my nipples in my sex life lol.

I am 3.5 months out and still do not have sensation back! However, they are starting to get itchy, so I am hoping that the nerves are regenerating and sensation will return soon! Oh Please Nipple God Oh Please Visit Me Soon!!

None at all on the left, but apparently more "work" had to be done on my right since it was the bigger implant - so its completely numb on half of it still, but it is very slowly coming back. lol

It's a gamble especially when you decide to have aeriola incision. You could end up with a few different sensation extremes. One being overly sensitive nipple when before they weren't, second complete loss of feeling or like me. Before I had one nipple that was a bit over sensitive (from breast feeding) and the other was normal. Now I can feel the one that was about sensitive but i probably only have half the feeling back and the other nipple I could slam in a door and not know it lol. It's completely numb. I'm not totally upset but I wish I could feel it enough to know it was there lol

I'm seven weeks post op and I still don't feel much sensation on my nipples. I honestly don't mind it. I was extremely sensitive before to the point of annoyance.

Yep, I'm numb....but less than 2 weeks out. I've been keeping up on the nipple posts and it seems around 2-3 weeks they become hypersensitive. Despite the fact they are numb, they respond if I stimulate them...even though I can't feel it.

I lost sensation in the right, but not in the left. Although I had an anchor BL at the same time, so that is probably the cause.

Although it really doesn't bug me. In fact, I prefer it to be numb to the world! I wish they had both lost sensation. :/

(I am 7 weeks out)

Oh boy, I was wishing my nipples WOULD lose sensation for the first few weeks post op. They were hypersensitive! It's all fine now. My incision was through the crease.

Believe it or not, this can be a complicated question. I had very very sensitive nipples for quite awhile after my BA. Later, they still had sensation but it was different than pre BA. It was like parts of the nipple maintained the same sensitivity and others didn't. And I would only notice the change if my hubby was touching them, not me. And even this can change through time.

It seems like everyone gets a different result, but I've heard it's good to wait at least a year to conclude you've lost sensitivity as it can come back as the nerves repair themselves.

Pre BA: sensitive to the point of being annoying.

Post BA: numbness now subsiding to crippling sensitivity. If I get cold, and wearing a bra, it stings!! And, the areola is still numb. Just the tip of my nipples hurt. If I shower, I can't let a direct stream hit a nipple or it hurts.

Sounds weird, but I almost laugh, because it's ridiculous how extreme it is

But I have amazing bewbs now, so I just don't mind!
