Angry Bloated after BA....HELP!!

Did anyone else get super bloated after their breast augmentation? I don't know what happened to me but I am retaining water like you would not believe. I know it's not that time of the month so I have ruled that out. I went from being my normal skinny self one day to waking up the next day and looking liked I'd gained 10 lbs over night! I am 7 days post op, and during the first 4-5 days in which I was mostly laying in bed I slept, so I did not eat much food. The last two days I haven't much- less then I normally do in fact- and I'm still looking bloated! Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of it? I am completely freaking out here because I'm going to the Marine Corps Ball on Saturday and I have to look skinny! Thanks in advance!

Don't worry Krista. That is quite normal. I think it's the anestesia and all the fluids they give you, but it WILL pass. Just make sure you continue to drink LOTS of water.

Post BA bloating...

you're feeling bloated sweetie, but its all temporary. It took me a good week just to have a BM post op. Things will get better. Like Kat said, drink loads of water.

i think it happens to most of us after any surgery! not to repeat everyone but DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!! Maybe even ask your PS if it would be ok if you took a stool softener to help push things through...it is a combination of anesthesia and pain meds......Drink Drink Drink and talk to your PS...hang in there!

yes i think we all became bloated. most of us became constipated too - which is a worse bummer!

if you do get constipated, i wouldnt advise taking laxatives. they work temporarily but only make you worse - and they give you awful stomach cramps.

eat things like prunes, or drink prune juice. bananas help too and they're very rich in protein, carbs and the B vitamins.

its been said but i'll repeat it - water, water, water
good luck and happy healing

Hi there, I just wanted to tell you that I also had the bloating after my breast augmentation...I looked like I was pregnant for about two weeks afterwards! I don't know which was bigger, my new boobs or my stomach! But it does go away and everything gets back to normal. I woke up one morning and the stomach was normal again but the boobies were still big! Julie

I guess everyone else has answered you. But I'll add that the Bromelain really really helped me. I stopped taking it a few days after my surgery b/c I didn't think it was doing anything b/c I wasn't bloated so I figured I didn't even need it. Then I felt so HUGE. So after about one week I started taking them again and immediately lost the water weight. That, plus drinking tons of water. Heh. Oh yeah and a stool softener (NOT a laxative).

HTH!!!

I agree with the ladies, you should continue to drink water. You should also get up and move around if you have been sedentary until now. A nice stroll around the neighborhood could do you some good.
