Smoking?

Do i have to quit smoking before my surgery? my doctor hasnt told me anything about it, my pre-op is tomorrow, and the big day is in 9 more days...

i thought i heard something about stopping, but why do you have to?

I believe the potential is greater for complications as well.

for me my boobs were an investment, I did not have that kind of cash to spend on myself. SO, it was my trade off. I quit smoking and the $ I would have spent on smokes is going to my boob payment! it was an incentive for me to quit (my 2nd time - 1st quit lasted 3 years..dont ask

I feel a million times better and I now have a hotter bod! all is good!

best of luck to you and you can totally quit. hard but SO worth it!

I was just curious since you said your PS didn't say anything about stopping smoking...did the ask you if you smoked at your consultation? I had loads of paperwork to fill out at my initial consultation and this was a question in that. They also asked if I had previously smoked, how long had I quit, etc. It was a little lengthy but I was glad to complete it all because they made such an effort to get a complete medical and health history from me.

Quitting is definitely something to consider for the reasons noted above in the previous reply. Nicotine has very harsh effects on the body that most people do not ever think about. If I still smoked, it would not have been a question, i would've quit prior to my surgery without a second thought.

Good luck with your decision!

My PS advised me to quit 10-14 days before surgery. I didn't, but I was confident I would be okay. I also work out and do treadmill so I have really good oxygen levels. And I healed up very fast.

Hi girls, i was doing really well with the qutting smoking but one thing after another and i stupidly hit the fag pack again. I have quit AGAIN now although only been one day (nothing to write home about as yet) and have three weeks until my surgery date. I am determined to not smoke anymore even after my surgery and healing process is complete although i am using Nicotine Gum as a replacement, is this a bad idea?
Thanks x

I am 4 weeks smoke free and so is DH! I have quit b4, but struggled to stay smoke free when hubby is still smoking. Now with boobs being the incentive, some how both of us seem to have a lot more will power!
