![]() | massaging techniques
hey all, i watched the video on the site for massaging, and my PS showed me a different way to do it. And i'm sure there are plenty of different techniques that people have learned, so i'm just wondering what everyone else's techniques are?? i think it would be good to massage different ways... i have HP, cohesive gel unders... my PS taught me to take two hands, put them on the top of my breast, and pull up the skin a little, so that my hands were above the implant, and to push down hard, so that the implant would squish down, and stretch the skin on the bottom... and then to put my hands on the bottom of my breast, and push up, so that the implant would stretch the top... what did/are you guys doing? Hey hon...you're right that there are a lot of different techniques out there. The goal post-op is to maintain the integrity of the pocket the surgeon created, soften scar tissue, & help the breast progress towards final results. I guess since we all start out different & heal differently, it makes sense that our needs may be different too...for example, some women's implants ride high after surgery, so their docs may have them pushing down...mine were almost exactly where they should be, so I wasn't advised to do that. The technique my PS emphasized with me the most was squeezing from the bottom of the breast to plump up the implant, then pushing that towards my collarbone to keep the upper pocket open. Dr. DeWire has an animation that shows the technique (scroll to the bottom): Click Here I was also told to push them together. The area beneath my nipples took the longest to soften, so I also massaged that area, including my incisions (once I got the okay).

Jo, Thanks for putting the video clip up. I just watched it and I am wondering how soon after your breast augmentation were you able to squeeze them that close together? At 24 days post op I can't get my to squeeze that close, mine are still quite firm. My ps has me doing compression excercises which is helping them to drop, but they are not that soft, hummmm. |

![]() | Pat: I wouldn't worry about that, hon. Some ladies can push them together early b/c they didn't have much of a space to begin with. I naturally have about a thumb's width between...the first few weeks I couldn't get them to touch at all, but I could see progress, a little closer every week. I think they touched at a month, but it wasn't until the 2nd month that they could completely squish together without much effort. For me at least, when I'd push them together the early weeks, it hurt the most releasing them back into position. Kayoko: Dr. DeWire does seem fabulous & from what I understand, he does a lot of revision surgery. I had the hardest time explaining my massages until I found his site & the info on there is great--I like the way he explains the philosophy & reason for everything.

Hi Jo, I can squeeze them both together, but in the video clip she takes one boob and pinches it with one hand. Hers are very soft and flexable. I tried that one and mine just aren't as soft. For boobs to get that soft, does it usually take a few months? Thanks, Pat |

![]() | My one boob is just like yours but after playing around with it a bit I got movement so keep at it and they will soften.

Yours aren't going to move or look like the video this early in. I actually do that move while laying on the bed, it's much easier & you can take it slow. Getting the implant that high was pretty uncomfortable for me the first month, plus my PS wanted me to hold it in the highest position for a few seconds. I don't think I looked like the video until 2-3 months in terms of it being as squishy & wiggly.

The video you looked at is how I massaged. Each ps has his/her own way to massaging, and some don't want you to massage at all. The best thing to do is follow your surgeon's instructions. My ps recommends massaging once a day for the rest of your life, but honestly, I don't massage. I haven't massaged in a looong time, lol. I figure since I sleep on my tummy, that's about all the massaging I need. I'm not telling you to NOT follow your ps's instructions. I'm not DELIBERATLY ignoring my ps, I just never remember to do it anymore. |

My PS highly recommends sleeping on my tummy, as did Helga the Horrible/Physiotherapist. I do as much as I can, but I drool a huge puddle and almost drown myself...

Oooh, I like this thread.... I know its early for me right now (8 days) but watching that video, wow! Mine are really firm & dont move at all. I cant ever imaging me doing that :/ I go for my post op check in 2 days so will ask about massage for me then. Ive been gently rubbing a Espa's Nourishing oil in twice, sometimes 3 times, daily so am building up to doing the whole massage thing..... I want lovely soft boobies too |
