Vitamin E consumption!!!!

I am freaking out right now because I had vitamin E today and my surgery is friday morning. I havent been taking large doses or anything but I have been drinking my favorite drink "odwella" which is an antioxidant for approriate nutrion before my sugery.. I just looked at the ingrediants on this particular bottle and realized that it contains vitamin E, C, and beta carotene. They come in all different flavors and ingredients, and so far I have drunk about 1 1/2 (I threw the last one away just now before finishing it) of these flavors the past two weeks. I spoke to the nurse at my PS office and she said to stop drinking it immedialty but that I should be fine for Friday. I heard that it was associated with hemmorage and bleeding. should I be really worried even though I had a fruit juice drink with some vitamin e in it. or am i over reacting?

You shouldn't worry! It would be totally impossible to completely eliminate vitamins and minerals from our diets unless we just stopped eating! The recommendation is to avoid supplements/meds etc. I love garlic and didn't stop eating it as a spice prior to surgery even though it's considered a blood thinner.

Don't worry one bit - you will be fine!!

I wouldn't worry too much either, if the office says you are fine. I was taking a multivitamin before my surgery as recommended by my PS. It had Vit E..

My anaesthesiologist told me I would literally have to almost overdose on Vit. E before it would act as a dangerous bld thinner. I was taking multivitamins right up to the day of OR.
