Question about incisions after surgery

One of my fears about my redo is the implant coming through the incision. I know it's rare, but with my thin skin it's on my mind...

After my first surgery I was instructed no bra..I came out of surgery with no dressings, nothing at all except steri strips.

My question is, what could help take the weight off the incisions after surgery? A sports bra? Anything else you would recommend? I did ask this question at my last appt. and my Dr. told me nothing would help with that (?)..it just seems that wearing a sports bra may,

Suggestions??

My PS liked using the steri strips along with the sports bra for this, that way there isn't that much pressure on the incision itself.

Ginger,

I don't think you need to worry about your skin being so thin that your implants will come through your incisions. If this were the case, I don't think your PS would operate. The steri strips will do a good job of keeping the tension off of the incisions. Maybe you could ask your PS if you could wear a sports bra for comfort, until you are more secure with your size.

Good Luck! It's not long now!

Thanks Ivy..it was one of the complication issues he mentioned..you know like all the other ones they have to mention like CC, bottoming out, ect. It's just this one kind of grossed me out, LOL...and if I can do anything to prevent it I will.

I wore tight fitting shelf cami tanks after my first surgery..for support, although I didn't feel heavy, I just wore them for comfort.

Thank you so much for your reassurance. You know it means a lot

I was in an underwire after surg the last 2 times to help form scar tissue and keep things up there. But, your surgeon knows what he did and what works for him..
Are you getting nervous Ginger..

You have no idea!!! LOL. I keep trying to invision what they will look like and just pray I'm making the right decision because once it's done, it's done.

I look at myself knowing I want to be bigger, my main nerve is having a horrible defined circle at the top of my breast. I found a picture of a young lady that was really boney like me, she had 280cc and a redo to 425cc and turned out nice...BUT we all know that it's impossible to compare, results are always so much different...that's why it makes decisions so tough!

When I came out of surgery I had sticky bandages taped over me really tightly like a bra but I'm not sure if other surgereons do that? I felt really supported but after some of the swelling went down and they started to move around gee I got the zingers! I put a stretchy boob tube on to help support the bandages and now I'm in a wireless sports bra

Ginger,

This is a risk with EVERY ba surgery. It's actually necrosis that can cause the implant to come through the skin. Necrosis is the medical term for dying skin/tissue. It's caused by poor circulation. Thin skin isn't enough to cause necrosis. If you were getting a lift, going larger, AND were a smoker, you'd be at a bigger risk for necrosis. I've heard of women that had lifts, and TOO much skin was removed, and when the implants were inserted, everything (skin/tissues/etc) was too "tight", which cut off circulation. If you don't have good circulation, oxygen (which is carried in the blood) cannot get to all of your tissues. If this happens, necrosis is the result. You should be fine. I wouldn't worry about this.
