![]() | Sub-muscular saline - areola or crease?
I met with my surgeon yesterday and we set the surgery date for April 30. During the consult we discussed the various sites for inserting the implant. We decided on sub-muscular after that. I didn't think to ask at that time - can implants be put in sub-muscular through the areola? It seems like that would be more difficult that way. How have you ladies who have had saline (sub-muscular) had yours inserted? I am curious also if one incision is more painful post-surgery than the other?

I have saline submuscular through the areola. I am very happy I chose this incision. Through the areola actually gives the doctor direct contact with where he is working. I would have only gotten the crease if I had decided on silicone because the size I was going for was too big to fit through the areola. So, in the end I chose areola incision with saline for many reasons. I have had absolutely no numbness or bruising. I had an absolutely great recovery. I also had rapid recovery that my doc does. So everyone's experience is different. This is just mine. Hope this is helpful. |

I am also going with saline, submuscular, through the areola. My PS says that gives him the most precise control over everything, because he can see what he is doing better. We'll see how it goes!

I had saline sub-muscular through the areola. My PS said he has the most control over placement that way (centered properly).

![]() | Hi Kelly
I see that you have chosen a doctor. Where is the doctor located? I'm so excited for you that you have the surgery booked. Wish I did Also, how much is that doctor charging? Did you like him better than the doctor in West Dundee?Awesome! Take care, Josie |

Josie - the doctor is in downtown Chicago - on Lakeshore Drive. I couldn't go with the West Dundee doctor due to the financing company I used (have to use a doc in their network). It does work out nice though, as I work in downtown Chicago, so when I return to work 5 days post-surgery, I can be at the doc's office in 10 minutes for follow-up appointments, rather than having to take a 1/2 day off work to get all the way back to the suburbs for an appointment. I do really like this doctor a lot though - he is very knowledgable and will tell you exactly what he thinks is best for you. He actually convinced me to go with salines when I was pretty set on silicone.

Josie - I forgot to answer your other question - the total cost is $6597 for saline unders ($4599 for the implants/his surgeon fee, $999 for surgical room fees, $999 for anesthesia) I put down $999 and am financing the remaining $5598.

![]() | Hi Kelly
So glad that it is working out for you. Funny cause I just bit the bullet and booked my consult with Dr. Lambruschi (sp?) in West Dundee. Actually I was originally going for an ugly spider vein removal that is just driving me nuts and figured while I was there I might as well go with the breast augmentation consult that I need to do. So, it's official! When I booked it I felt my blood pressure rise a little and had a rush go through my body. March 28. God, I have soooo many questions. Hardest part is going to be standing there while he looks at my small boobs. How embarrassing!!!! Hey, thanks for all the info. You're going to look great and have an even better summer than me ![]() Take care, Josie |

Good for you Josie. Don't worry about having him looking at you. Dr. Lambruschi is WONDERFUL - he has such a great bedside manner and just an overall great personality, you don't even notice standing there 1/2 naked in front of him. I know you will love him.

I have no idea which incision is more/less painful. I think that mostly depends on each person's pain threshold and how they heal. Just wanted to say that I am very, very pleased with my crease incisions. They healed well and are impossible to see, unless I hold up my boobs and look for them. The main reason I went with crease was because that's what my PS preferred and was the most comfortable with. If she preferred aereola, I would have gone with that. As long as your PS is proficient in whatever incision you go with, you should be fine. Slinky |

I ditto what Slinky said - I am going with the crease incision because it is my ps's preferred way of doing surgery and I know he's good at it!

Thanks everyone. I will be having a little phone conference with the doc tomorrow morning to ask the questions I forgot to ask the first time around, and will find out about the incision. Thanks again. |

I have saline unders via areola incision, and it worked out great for me. I did get a hypersensitive right nipple for a few weeks afterwards, but that's a possible side effect that anyone can get, regardless of incision point. It's totally fine now, and I'm really pleased with the way the scar as healed. Pretty much undetectable.

I had areola both times. It was the best decision for me b/c truly you cannot see the incision at all.

I have sub-pectoral salines via Trans-Ax incision (armpit). I can't even see my scar anymore and even when I could it was hidden in the crease of my armpit. Love my PS for that!!! Good luck with your decision. As far as pain goes - my PS advised me that there's not proof that any icision is easier to heal.
