Smile Sizing implants

Okay, I have a question because I've never seen anything written about this.

I'm 2 weeks Post BA and loving my new ones, but I'm just curious about something.

During my surgery my PS used a sizing implant to see what size my saline implants should be prior to inserting my actual implants. Has anyone else had that or known if your PS did that? I think it's an AWESOME idea and I'm not sure why everyone using saline wouldn't do it?

They explained it to me in my pre-op consulation.

Basically, they make the incision (mine was thru the areola) and the PS inserts the rolled up "sizing implant" he then fills the implant once it's in there and sets up the patient/table to see what they look like. He then adds cc's/or takes away cc's as needed to determine what looks the best for the look/size I described I wanted. He also got 3 opinions from people in the Operating Room. I think that was really cool too. Finally, after the PS determines the best CC's, he removes the sizing implant and inserts the actual permanent implant and then fills them up to the cc's that they figured using the sizing implant. The PS then (for a 2nd time) sets up the patient/table to see if everything looks okay--checks to make sure they look even, etc. Then, they sewed me up and were finished. My surgery took an hour and 45 minutes (that was average for my PS) because he is so detailed.

Is this common for you other saline gals?? Or for gals considering salines, have you heard this procedure from your PS?

It can be done even if you get silicone implants too to get a better estimate on what they'll be able to fit into you. It's quite common even if it might not be mentioned to the patient in advance - if I was putting in implants I wasn't sure were going to fit I'd far rather waste a disposable sizer than use the actual implants only to find out they won't fit (as they can not be reused after inserted into a patient).

Yes, a lot of surgeons do that, including mine. You can see a pic of the sizer that was used in one of my surgeries below.

Yes, my PS did the same thing. I LOVED that he does that. Every single person I met at the hos said to me he was a perfectionist.... and TO ME my boobs are perfect! I am so in love now that they are softening up!
