Any one with Saline Overs
Hi I am brand new and am trying to finalize the details before my BA in late April. My PS first suggested silicone overs, but since doing research, I have decided to go with saline. I have an appt with PS next Thursday, to discuss saline overs, but am dying to know how often this is preformed. I am very athletic, running, weight lifting, horseback riding, mother of girls (5 and 10 months). I am currently 34 full A and want to be 34 small to full C. I am considering 325cc. From evertyhing I have read overs are best for me, but I'm concerned about the look of saline overs and just want to see what anyone else has experieinced. Any info would be great! Thanks
P.S. I am 5'2" tall and 122 lbs. Last edited by georgiadaisy; 03-21-2008 at 11:38 AM. Reason: add height and weight |

If you're going the overs route with little to no breast tissue to start with, my advice is to really consider silicone. It's really tough to get a good-looking and feeling result with saline overs if you're starting small.
My PS only does overs with silicone, never saline. I personally got saline unders.

I'm a petite, athletic runt and just went from a saggy 36 B to a really full, almost double D a few weeks ago with saline overs. Silicone was in no way an option I would consider (personal reasons) and because of sports, unders just wouldn't work for me.
Initially, I asked to go to a full C or baby D. The doc was concerned about pushing it that far because she said I didn't have enough breast tissue. However, I have really good, thick skin so I convinced her to at least get to a full C and I'd deal with it. Once she actually got into the surgery, she was able to discern that I probably could, indeed handle a D so she gave them to me. I'm just two weeks post op today and my recovery has been wonderful. In fact I was in a bathing suit and on the beach a week ago. Everyone who has seen or even felt my new twins says that they appear as natural as if I had grown them myself. I really do think it's the combination of both skin type and breast tissue that determine how well the saline will work for you. I've seen lots of saline overs that looks absolutely spectacular and you can't beat the recovery time

I understand your desire for saline; I felt the same way - silicone just wasn't a personal choice for me. Are you sure overs are the only route you can go? I'm quite athletic myself and went for saline unders - former competitive figure skater (still skate recreationally), and very much into ballet/ballroom dancing ... however, not a Cirque de Soleil performer :-) (That's so cool by the way!)

I have saline overs AND had a good amount of starting breast tissue.
I think they look great, however I kinda wish I went with silicone. They don't "seem" as soft as other peoples. |

I have saline overs and I LOVE them! Mine are very soft DH and I never imagined that they would feel so real.

It's funny in America how many people get saline. Here in australia it's pretty much not offered, 99% of plastic surgeons use silicone. Same as with Europe.
Not trying to start as debate in any way, I just thought it was interesting! |

Hi,
So many deicisions to make! Until I started reseraching my own BA, I had no idea there were so many options and decisions that you have to make. I JUST had my BA/BL yesterday. When I met with my PS, he thoroughly exmained me and gave me his recommendation for ME. He said that he does both over and under, silicone and saline, etc...He makes suggestions based on the woman's body, but it is ultimately the womans decision. I'am a small woman (5'2, 120lbs, small frame) but with curves. I breastfed 3 kids, too. He said that I had good breast tissue (deflated 32B) and thick skin that he would recommend overs. I was thrilled at this because I needed a speedy recovery due to the kids. He also recommended the silicone because of the feel of the implant and less rippling, etc... Again, it was my choice but I ended up following his recommendation. It's too early to know the results, yet, but the surgery went really well and I can't wait to see the new set! Tough decisions so be sure and do what's best for you and your situation. Good luck! |

Thank you to all of you. All of your input is great! As you all know, it is hard to wait until a second appointment, once you "have more knowledge" (I really didn't know anything going in to my first consult!). Thankfully that appt is this Thursday and my hubby is joing with me. I trust this PS that he will guide me for what is truly "best for my body". I was just trying to see what potential options I have. So I can put my two cents worth in! (I'm sure he will be so glad! Ha Ha!) I also have an appt set up with a second PS (just to hear a second opinion) for two weeks from this Tuesday. I am just excited and like you all have agreed on, there are way too many decisions to make (too many scenarios and options)!!!!! I'll report back with what I find out! Y'all are awesome to share your stories and opinions! Thanks!
