My pre-op and sizing was this morning and it wasn't as much fun as I had hoped. I actually left there a bit nervous. My pre-op with the nurse was as you would expect, give my family and my health history, don't take this, here are your medicines, etc. That was fine. Next was sizing. I was all excited. The PS came in and said she first wanted to show me what she thought would look best on me and then she wanted to see my pictures to get an idea of what results I am looking for. So, she gives me 350cc to try on. I tried them on. She asked what I thought so I told her I was looking to be 375cc, but that I wanted 400cc, since the size is reduced a bit after the implants are inserted. She asked to see my pictures. After she took a look at them she said, "Well, looking at these, it seems you want your boobs to be the first thing people notice when you walk into a room." She preceded to say she thought the implants on the girls in my pics where too big for their bodies. I stated I wanted to be a full C and she stated she typically tries to size people to an average C. So, she gives me 400cc to try on. And I said, These aren't too bad. I like these. And then she made a Disapproval type noise. That did it! I became a nervous wreck and started doubting my size decision. I think she started to notice I was getting nervous and confused and she stated, you like this size..you should go with what you like. I know that I should go with my gut feeling, but I guess I wish my PS would have made me feel better about my decision? In the back of my mind I have this little voice wondering if I should have gone with what my PS told me in terms of size. Anyone have a similar experience? Does anyone think I made a mistake not going with my PS's recommendation?

ultimately it is what YOU want.
however, some PS are a little more conservative and some are wilder and do make recommendations on what they view as the best sometimes. i think with a PS recommendation - you can always go a little bigger or a little smaller depending on your view. since she recommended 350cc and you want 400...50 cc isnt a big difference so go with 400. you'd rather go with what you want b/c if you go with the PS recommendation and you're unhappy...it sucks and you'll want a redo. but if you're the one making the decision, if it does come out too big or too small - thats your fault and you have nobody to blame but yourself. |

My PS Didn't Make a Rec.....
The sizing process with my PS was a little different. She just kept handing me increasing sizes and asked how each felt to me. The increment differences between them weren't very big, so it took a while to really get to a point where it felt "too big" to me. She did say that most women do wish they had gone a bit bigger--if you haven't thought about it extensively (I hadn't), adding even small sizes to your chest can look really foreign at first. She didn't tell me any numbers, she wanted me to go by looks alone. I finally settled on 350cc's and she was supportive of that decision---but ultimately it was up to me. She did say afterwards that some sizes (like 800's) would not look good on my small frame--so I'm guessing she would have tried talk me out of those.
Regarding your experience, a lot of doctors (even PS's) are really good at surgery and treatment, but I'm not really sure they are all good at counseling and bedside manner. I think some get really focused on you as a physical body that they must accomplish this routine--but let's admit it--not entirely risk-free task by thinking about the operation, meds, and physical treatment 1st. I think most drs see the operation and treatment as the most important part of their job---not the aesthetics, which is really up to you. Maybe there should be boobie consultants to help with sizing and looks someday LOL. But I wouldn't think too hard about your PS's reaction--think hard about what you really will be comfortable/happy with for the next years. |

I had a similar experience as creative 123- no initial recommendations. I just started small with the sizers and went up till I hit the one that I liked. At my post-op, my PS told me that he thought mine were a little too big for my frame, but everybody else has said that the size was completely perfect and I agree. I think that it's important to listen to your PS's recommendations, but if you want to go reasonably bigger, than you should go for it. You definitely don't want to come out of surgery with boobie greed!

Sorry you're feeling so stressed out about your decision. You have to remember that this is your decision and something that you have to live with. Take your PS recomendations into consideration and ultimately go with what you're comfortable with. If your body can handle a 400cc and it's the look and size you're trying to acheive, I say go for it. Good luck to you, I hope everything ends up the way you want it.

I am in a similiar situation. My nurse wasn't too helpful with sizes at all but did tell me to go bigger. Now after reading this forum I am nervous that I won't be big enough. I called the PS office today to go back in and try on more sizes. I was really looking forward to finding a size but it was kind of a let down

Thanks everyone for you feedback. I think you are all right..I need to go with what I feel is right regardless of what my PS recommended. As I think about it more tonight, I am not going THAT much bigger than she recommended. I chose 400cc not because it was a number, but by doing research on this forum and thinking hard about what I want my results to be. I also did the rice test and looked at hundreds of pictures to decide on the size I want to be. The size is definitely are exactly what my PS had in mind, but that doesn't mean what I chose is wrong. I appreciate all of your help!!! THANKS!!!

You and your PS obviously have different ideas of what is proportional for you. As long as the size you choose is safe and won't cause complications (and I'm sure she would have told you, if it would), then you should go with what you choose. Maybe she's kinda conservative. Who knows? You've done your research. You know what you want. You aren't going into this clueless. If you go smaller than you are looking for, I suspect you will have boobie greed and then blame either yourself or your PS. Be firm with what you want.
I know someone on JBI who opted for bigger than her PS would have chosen. She is very happy now with her choice. Slinky |

Go with what you want. Everyone has different opinions. My PS thought mine were too big also but it's what I wanted.

Yasmin, I think you should go with your gut instinct. If 400s make you happy, then do it. I'm very afraid of boobie greed, and I'm not going back for surgery unless there's complications. So get it right now. You dont' want to end up having to buy more padded push-ups to get the look you want, it defeats the purpose of all this surgery!

My PS didn't make any recommendations but I don't think he or his assistant liked the idea of 500s. They did not say that but, I just knew from their facial expressions etc. I am so happy I made my own choice and did not let their opinions sway me. Anything less than 500s would have been sooo dissapointing.
Unless there is a medical reason for your PS's opinion you should go with what you want and avoid any dissapointments.

Sounds like your PS is a *cookie cut*
variety...likes to give each and every client the *same* size...how does that work ? What happened to individuality ?? I don't like your PS's attitude...*Disapproval type noise* what is she your mother ? She is suppose to guide you not tell you what she wants...It's your body... your money...her attitude would be enough for me to say ...seeya later alligator... You are a AA...you're gonna need a bit more to get where you want...400cc is good don't go any smaller...maybe go 450cc... an implant C will look smaller then a natural C...keep that in mind... |
