Wink Sarah's back with BOOBIES!!

Well I had my surgery on Tue. and it was alot worse that I thought it would be. This is going to have to be short cuz I'm still real sore!
I am so swollen on one side, and am still on all my meds. What is wrong with me?They look GREAT!!!! They just hurt like crazy, and all 5 of my kids are coming home today. I'm scared.
What can I do to get the swelling to go down on that one side?
By the way, did I mention they look GREAT!!!!
I LOVE THEM!!!

Welcome back Sarah!

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. Have you tried putting ice on them? I was given some ice bags at the hospital and I used them off and on the first few days. My left side is more swollen and sore than the right. I think that's pretty normal. Some people heal quicker and have a quicker recovery than others. Don't let it get you down -- each day will be better.

Just keep up with your meds, if you need them, rest, drink plenty of fluids and above all REST. How old are your kids? Do they know what surgery you got? Are they old enough to help you out? Just don't overdue it and ask for help if you need it.

My worst night was last night because my back is so sore from laying in a recliner for the past 5 days. I couldn't get comfortable no matter what I did. Tried walking around, used pillow on recliner, propped myself up pillows on the sofa. So I am tired today and will try to be on heating pad to see if that helps. Sometimes you have to try different things till you find something that works.

Hope you feel better soon and keep us informed when you can of your recovery.

Congratulations Sarah!

It's pretty normal to have swelling. If you think the swelling is excessive, you should call your PS to be seen. Hopefully your children are old enough they can take care of themselves so you can relax some. If they aren't and you are feeling bad, try to get someone to help you. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hi Sarah, Congrads on your BA. I just had mine on Friday and I will say that I am sore but I have kept bags of frozen peas on my chest right from the start, meaning when they put me in my car to come home my husband put the peas on me and has been keeping them on since, it has helped wonders on the swelling and the pain.

I'm so sorry you are still in pain! My dr. told me when I had a different kind of surgery that drinking tea or coffee will help reduce swelling. He related it to when we are bloated near our periods, if we drink tea (natural diuretic full of anti-oxidents) it gets rid of the excess water retention. But make sure you are still pushing fluids- you did just have surgery! Flush out all the bad stuff!

Best wishes- glad you like them!

Congrats!!! Sorry to hear about your pain. I can sympathise with you on that. I am only 12 days post op and felt so much better this morning. There was no soreness!! It takes time and we all heal at different levels. I would recommend frozen peas for the swelling too and the meds, rest and fluids. Good luck

CONGRATS!!! I got mine done on Dec 7th..and I was in a LOT of pain myself. Today I am just starting to feel better. My ps only gave me 3 days worth of pain killers..I actually had to call him and say there is no way I can do with out them yet..so he called in another refill for me. Just take it easy. I had a heating pad on my back almost 24/7 because it too hurt so bad. It does get better~for a while I was like "why did I do this to myself"

Talking

Sarah,Congratulations! Just take it easy and take the meds as long as you need to. Some have to longer than others ( I was one of them) My PS said no ice so I would ask your PS first. If they say no to ice maybe you could use bromelain.

Sarah, I am so glad you are liking your girls. I stayed sore for quite a while to be honest, at least a week or two, but I too, homeschool my children and was back to that 2 days after, with a 5 year old and 6 month old, and my husband was only able to get one day off. So what we did, was the night before I had DH get plates out and food on them, then we would cover them with plastic wrap, so when lunch time came, I just had to warm them, and I had a bottle of water and formula next to the recliner and the baby in his play pen so I wouldnt be chasing him. We got juice boxes for my daughter so she could get a drink with out me lifting the heavy tea pitcher...just some ideas..good luck

Congratulations Sarah!!
My ps tol me to keep ice on my chest for the first 48 to 72 hours after surgery. Now I use it once in a while mainly in the morning when I wake up cause that's when I have the most pain.
Even now 12 days post-op my cleveage is still swollen and it hurts.
Try calling your ps see if you can use ice, it really helps numb things and keep the swelling down.
Good luck!!!
