![]() | info on pre and post ba depression
I've never heard of it or even thought about it before someone mentioned it in a thread - so can anyone tell me what that's all all about??? Is it missing your old boobs or freakin about the new ones or both or? I'm so confused! haha I guess that b/c I"m so excited to finally have boobs that I couldn't imagine being depressed afterwards. . .maybe I should warn my DH if its something I could possibly experience - not sure how he'd handle something like that if he wasn't prepared for it!!! Thanks! |

I had post depression. For me it was, "omg what did I do to my body", and the fear of complications become very real. Because I was so flat and then to see them so hard and shiny, i felt like a porn star. I am almost 4 weeks post op and loving them. I just think it all becomes real, especially after you read all of the problems that women have when they get thier breast augmentation. It kinda freaks you out!! Good luck!

I think I had a little touch of it last night. I was feeling down cause DH had to work overtime and I felt a little overwhelmed. I was actually sobbing when he called to check in on me. Scared him to death cause he thought something happened. I told him, I just needed to hear his voice. Yeah I'm a nut, lol. Maybe it has something to do with pain killers, changes in our bodies, hormones. No wonder men think we're nuts!

![]() | Me, too...
I am a little worried about this, too. I suffered from pretty severe "baby blues" after my daughter was born, so I think I am likely to experience this too. I'd love to hear how others of you handled it...

The anesthesia itself can cause a dose of depression. Add to that the pain, meds, less sleep, and huge change of adding a few hundred cc's to your chest. Plus you can't live your normal life because of all of the restrictions, so you go a little cooky. It just takes a couple weeks to adjust. For me, getting off the meds and getting back to my normal routine was key. I didn't feel better until I could go for walks, go grocery shopping, cook, etc. The stir-crazy part was the hardest and resulted in a few meltdowns.

thanks to all for their posts so far - sounds like it something I would expect, b/c I've been wondering for a while now how I will feel about and adjust to having boobs when I haven't *really* had any in so long! I'm hopin I forget about em pretty quickly and that it just seems like they've always been there, ya know!? I do believe it probably is alot of the sittin around the house during the recovery that would drive me crazy! With 4 kids runnin around I doubt I doubt I'll get much time to do nothing! Luckly DH is taking off of work to help me for the first 2 days and then the weekend. His boss is on notice that he may or may not be to work on Monday but I figure I"ll be much better by then! Thanks again to all who've posted!

I was the same as TexasChic. I was super weepy until I could get back into my routine. Once I could get out of bed, cook, clean and semi take care of my kiddos, I started feeling so much better. By day 2 post op I was doing some of this and feeling better. Today is day 4 and I am up for taking the kids to the park and doing some major cleaning (with help of coarse). With healing and emotional adjustments, patients seems to be the key.
