I am having my pre-op on Monday and I was planning on going with saline- somewhere in the 400 - 500cc range. I originally was going to get silicone but once I realized that you should get MRI's every few years I decided against it.
I would love to hear from anyone who is happy with the look and especially the feel of their saline implants. I am happy to hear from anyone with silicone as well. I am concerned about the "water balloon" feeling of saline..... Thanks to anyone who shares!! I am a 34A with not a whole lotta breast tissue.......

I have been wondering the same thing. I also decided against silicone bc of mri's and cost issues.....although I am worried about the "water balloon" effect....Ill keep an eye on this post too....thanks girl!

I was a 32AA and I got 475 cc's saline (see my stats below) and so far I am happy with them. My left boobie is softer than my right for now...When I lie on my stomach I can feel the righty and it does kinda have a "water balloon" feel but it doesn't bother me too much. I actually didn't think they (lefty) would be this soft so for me I am glad I got salines. I am a little biased though because I never wanted to get silicone...good luck!!!

I had saline 13 months ago. I was a 34AAA and am now a 34D with 350cc's. I am very happy with mine. I was a little worried that they wouldn't feel "natural" but in the last 6 months they look and feel real.
Best wishes to you and an early welcome to BOOBIEVILLE!! |

I am very happy with my salines. They are soft and squishy. They're under the muscle, and that helps, plus I had some breast tissue to start with. So no rippling and plenty of bounce. However - I can't compare them to silicone, 'cause I've never felt silicone boobs. I would guess they are softer, but since I like mine the way they are, it doesn't matter to me.
Just an fyi - you don't have to get an MRI every couple of years with silicone. They are recommended, but you can't be forced to do it. Only the U.S. has the MRI recommendation. Other countries do not, as they've been using silicone even when we didn't, and see no need for the MRI's. Not saying you shouldn't get them, for your own comfort level, just that not everyone does. I have salines and love them too. They are soft, very natural looking and no water balloon effect at all. I have also felt silicones and my salines are just as natural and soft as the silicones I have seen and felt.
One reason I chose salines was bc of the MRI's, though I know it is only a recommendation. But I was not comfortable getting sils and NOT getting a MRI per the recommendation. |

I have salines and am almost 3 months out. I am STILL softening, but they are pretty squishy now. I'm not sure what silicone feels like....or really a "normal" breast for that matter...LOL!! But I am happy with my salines. I needed to address some mild asymmetry, and that was possible with the saline as my ps was able to add a big more saline to my left implant. Hope that helps!

I have salines too...and love them....or maybe I just love having big boobs????
They are firm, but that's how I prefer them to be....they squish up nice AND push up nice in a great push up bra... |

I have salines and love them. They are very soft and natural looking, but yet still a little firm. They aren't like water balloons or anything more like natural-perky breasts.

Liz, I love my salines and I had them done by Dr. Ganchi. They will be harder at first like most implants, but mine softened CONSIDERABLY to a soft, squishy feel at around 6 weeks. I'm really pleased. I didn't want to have to deal with the cost of MRIs with silicone.

love my sallines,
hi,
i do also have saline, overs i had breast tissue to start was 34C full before lost weight, and i can tell you i love them, they are so real,it look like my breast, i am nearly 7 weeks and i know they will look more soft, but it loo like perky breasts,i didnt go with sillicone because i was not confortable with that choice, rupture having sil in my body even if its cohesive, also you dont know when they leak, and i know i would have check with the mri to be safe and that is $$$$, but i know a lot of ladys are happy with sill,so its your own choice. |

Thanks everyone for your responses! My PS's office just called to see if I decided between saline and silicone!!! I think I am going with saline. I can't really explain why- it is just a gut feeling if that makes any sense!
Almost two weeks out!!!

My PS only does saline but were I given the choice I would have gone with saline anyhow. I realize they may feel more like implants but I am so much more comfortable knowing that were they to rupture it would be completly harmless. I am not really crazy about the fact that BF and I could be out to dinner one night and my breast could totally deflate over the Creme Brulee.....but cest la vie!
Boobie day is on TUESDAY!

My doc said that the FDA recommends MRIs with the silicones, but that it's really only necessary if the look or feel of the implant changes. With saline, you can tell right away if you have a leak. With silicone, it's not so obvious and can be more gradual, causing breast tissue damage. Either way, and implant has a 10-15 year lifespan before it starts to degrade and needs replacing, anyway.
So if that's the only thing holding you back, I'd say go for silicone. Just keep an eye on them. |
