Ok, is this odd or what. Two incision sites?

I peeled back one of my steri-strips to take a peek and I noticed that I have two incision sites. The first one is smaller and right under my nipple, then there is a much longer incsion site under it. I checked the other breast and it's the same. Could my PS have tried to insert the implant in the first, smaller incision and then decided he needed a longer incision? But why would he make the mistake on both breast? I dont get it, is it normal to have two incisions or what?

It looks like too that the longer incision is healing nicely but the shorter one that is directly under my nipple looks to be open still....

What a mess!

Are the scars basically like lollipop shaped? Maybe he gave you a tiny wee bit of lift to even out your nipples some, or so...

Hmmm, well, lets see. I dont know, lol. What they look like to me is a crescent moon shape, like half a circle and I have two on both areolas. One is smaller and directly under the nipple and the other is longer and is like on the crease/edge of my areola... does any of that make sense? When I have hubby takes pics later today I think I'll peel back one of my strips and take a pic b/c it's hard to explain. I haven't heard anyone on here talk about having two incisions and he didn't mention anything to me about it either.

That's odd. I do know that some girls have had their implants put in through the actual areola, right below the nipple, but I've ever seen like one or two cases like that! Makes for really unnoticeable scars later on I hear, but I would imagine too that it's hard to fit the implant through. And also often times you try to avoid contact with the milk ducts a lot because they can, according to some studies, harbour bacteria. Which in turn can, again according to some studies, increase the risks to infection and CC. Although to my understanding these studies haven't been large enough to draw any conclusive evidence out of them.

Interesting. So are most areola incisions done outside the areola?

I'm going to take my dressings off tomorrow night when I shower. I had areolar incisions yesterday morning and I'll peek-a-boo and letcha know if it's anything unusual. Mine could be that way too? Maybe we're just not supposed to see yet??

My philosophy in life is never draw conclusions based on observation alone! Don't panic until you know there's reason to panic! Relax. It's probably fine girl!! We'll compare tomorrow!!

Take care! I'm right there with ya sista!

Hugs!

I had a crescent lift, and the incision is just above the areola, not below the nipple. I have not figured out how to post pics, or join a group, but if someone helps me, I can take a pic and you can see if it's similar. Otherwise, I bet it will heal and you'll barely be able to see it. Good luck!

Surely my PS would have told me?? We never discussed a lift, he never said anything to me about any sort of lift, lol. Ughhh.

I'm taking a pic right now and posting. Check my group in about 20 minutes and tell me what you think is going on with my incisions.

I'm going to go take a pic and post it to my group. Do you have access to my group, stat?

I just posted a pic, although you cant really see the smaller incision, but it's def. ON my areola and not below it. Anyway, it shows the general area. I was showing hubby last night and he also saw the two incisions.

Anyway, I dont know, lol. Maybe I'm freaking out or something but when I took a peek yesterday it wasn't what I was expecting to see and I def. see two incisions.

They aren't done quite outside of the areola either, the surgeon usually tries to place the incision right on the border of normal skin and areola so it wouldn't show as much. So it's not directly via areola but on the edge of it. Areolar incisions can be hard to place sometimes!

That's what I thought too, the pic doesn't really show the smaller incision above the longer one. I see my PS on the 3rd so I guess I'll just have to ask him what the heck and see what he says.

Thanks for looking

I see. The longer incision looks to be right at the edge, so I guess that's where the placement was done. I just cant figure out why I have another incision above it, smaller, yet it's there, on both areolas.
