Fixing asymmetry - any one have advice?

So I want my asymmetry fixed and thought it would be a simple "put a little more in the small size" fix. Yesterday the ps I interviewed said that there is some asymmetry in the volume and also in the nipple position. If I put a larger implant in the small size to fill it out to be the same size as the larger side then the asymmetry in the nipple position will be more noticeable. He said if we put the same size implants in both sides that there will still be some asymmetry (as there is now) but it's something only I notice and doesn't think it will be a big deal. To be honest though girls, the asymmetry is the one thing that I hate about my ta-ta's! I thought fixing it would be likity split.

Any of you have advice/stories about fixing/dealing with the asymmetry issue. I was a little discouraged when he told me this.

At least he was honest with you and told you what he thought. How asymmetrical are you? A cup size? More, less? What would bother you more, having uneven nipples or being asymmetrical? Only you can decide that.

Have you only seen one PS? It would be a good idea to see a couple more. Not all PS's are the same. Maybe another one would have other options for you. Nipples can be moved - it is a more complicated and probably more expensive surgery than a straight BA, but possible. Keep looking. Don't rush into this until you are comfortable with what your outcome might be.

I also had asymmetry, had my BA just yesterday. My PS prefers to start out with the breasts being even, as opposed to using two different sized implants.
So he did some lipo on the larger breast to even them out first (he offered and did it for free!) I'm at the frankenboob stage so won't know for some time how even they really are now.
would suggest that you have consults with a couple more PS's to see what they may advise. If you are considering going thru the aerola then perhaps the lipo with a we lift on the one lower nipple would do the trick. Good luck!

Slinky

I have consultations scheduled with 2 other plastic surgeons next week. This ps was the first of 3 I'm talking to (will talk to more if I don't like any of these three). The asymmetry is very noticeable to me. Doc said it was within normal range but it's a cup size difference (I wear a 34 B but only my right side fills out my bra, my left side has room for 2 fingers)

Thanks for your advice yogini and slinki

Please keep us updated. I have one that is larger than the other and hate it! Not that big just slighty but it drives me crazy!

I had the same concerns and the PS I went with said it would be very hard to fix. Not very noticeable to others but to ME it is and I hate it! Please keep us updated!!!!

Did you put the same size implant in both sides? What approach did you take?

I was asymmetric by a cup size, and still am....my PS insists this is not something that can be fixed. My first ba I had 50 cc's more on my right. For my re-do to go smaller, I still have 50 cc's more in my right but unless there is still swelling in my left (which had to be stitched up) there are still not symmetrical. I think he did make some adjustments to try and compensate but there were not symmetrical to begin with and a ba only enchances what you already have. I'm only 3 weeks po from my redo so I can't really tell yet but it APPEARS to be better 2nd time around. One thing I have found is that all ps's have their own opinions and they can differ quite a bit so def. ask about it specifically at your other consults.

If you were asking me - same size in both.

Yes, homergirls, I was asking you. Sorry, I should have made that clearer Thanks for your reply. So another question - are they less asymmetrical looking now that they are bigger or do they look the same to you (as far as asymmetry goes) only bigger?

The same now only bigger!

I have made up my mind when it is time for a redo or 4 years whichever comes first I am going to have a lift and then I will hope for better results. I was very anxious about this for the first three weeks - slowly I am letting it go.......

Mine were about 1 cup size different pre-BA. We put in 200cc sili unders in both sides, and I'm still 1 cup size bigger on the right. My PS had told me that my asymmetry wasn't drastic enough to warrant 2 differently sized implants, and that augmenting them would "mask" the difference. My opinion is that now that they're augmented, the asymmetry is now MORE obvious than ever. Simply because they're more "out there" now, more noticeable...and so I have a low-hanging 32C right boob, and a high 32B perky left boob. I'm VERY unhappy with this. I'm hoping for a re-do next year when I can afford it. My PS says that she can try lowering my left crease even more (she had already lowered it a bit at my BA) and put slightly larger implants in to try to further mask the asymmetry. But, I'm dubious...given my first experience I'd worry that this might make it even *more* noticeable!

I'm intrigued by wishful yogini's PS' approach with first lipo-ing the larger breast before inserting 2 same-sized implants. I've never heard of that but it does make sense. I may ask my PS about it.

Considering revision to correct pre-existing asymmetry that wasn't fully addressed at my BA (by lowering left crease). Sometime in late 2009?

I had 25cc difference and so my PS put an implant 25cc bigger into the smaller boob. I'm only 5 days post op, but I can notice the nipples a little differently placed, only if I look properly though. My PS said not to worry at this stage about asymmetry until they heal, so maybe it will get better with time. I honestly don't think anyone other than you would notice! I hardly noticed the 25cc difference pre-BA until my PS took the before photo. HTH
