![]() | Percocet vs. Lortab
Since I have an HMO in my state and my surgery is in another state, my insurance won't pay for my meds if I get them when I'm there. So I need my PS to call them in prior to me going for my surgery. BUT...they can't call in Percocet so they would have to call in Lortab instead. If I want Percocet I would have to pay for that out of pocket, which I'm actually okay with and I'm not sure I want to take Percocet anyway. I do have some Vicodin leftover from a shoulder thing recently that I never used. Anyway, my question is this...does anyone know the big difference between Percocet and Lortab? The office gal said that "if you've taken Lortab before it might work just fine for you." Well, I've never taken anything before so I have no clue. I would love to just take Extra Strength Tylenol if I can help it. Actually I did take Darvocet once for a migraine before I was ever diagnosed and it sent me to the moon and back and I HATED the feeling and still had the migraine when I was all through with that trip! |

all i know about them is that theyre both used for moderate to severe pain so based on that im assuming that they would both work similarly but id say google lortab to be on the safe side

I don't know the difference between them, but I took loritab and had never taken it before and it worked fine for me. Really helped with the pain and helped me sleep which was great!

Percocet is Oxycodone and Lortab is Hydrocodone. Milligram for Milligram Oxycodone is slightly stronger but I reckon for most people Hydrocodone at a decent dose is plenty. Since Darvocet messed you up I imagine the hydrocodone will be fine for you. Hydrocodone comes in 5, 7.5 and 10mg with varying amounts of acetaminophen. If you get a higher dose one that should cover you and if it's too much you can split the tablet. One variety brand named "Norco" is 10mg hydrocodone and 325mg acetaminophen. I always liked that one and you can get it in generic, just often it's prescribed and called by brand, like Lortab and Percocet. HTH |

Thanks for the explanation of everything. That does help. I think I'll go with it. Might as well have my insurance pay.

Yep...what she said. I can't take Lortab or Vicoden because of the hydrocodone. Makes me very sick...so I have to use meds with oxycodone in them. | |
