![]() | YouTube Videos Freaking Me Out :(
Hey girls. So I've been browsing YouTube over the past hour or so, looking at all types of breast augmentation-related videos. And, well, I saw a couple of BAs being performed and nearly started to cry (I think I'm at a bad spot in my cycle - lol). I think I wanted to cry because it just looked so . . . I don't know, I just got weak, ya know? (But couldn't NOT watch the videos - go figure.) ![]() As some of you might have picked up on . . . I'm having issues with which incision site to choose. Areola (all the way around; it's called the circumareola incision) or inframammary. Well, I saw a breast augmentation performed with the circumareola incision. That was traumatizing. Especially how it all looked in the end, as they stitched up the incisions. OMG! It was so scary! IT IS SO HARD TO BELIEVE that boobs eventually turn out to be NORMAL looking, regardless of these crazy incisions. I am having such an issue with all of this. Scarring. I'm making myself crazy. I just need reassurance . . . of any kind. Thx for listening!

![]() | Well I can tell you about my experiance with the circumareolar incision. Like you I was concerned about the appearance. I knew that this was my only option since I was getting a Benelli lift also, so I did a lot of searching to see pics of the outcome. You are right it is hard to imagine that after the healing is done, that these boobs will end up looking normal, but it is true and I am living proof! I was so worried about scarring and permanent puckering, but this is totally not an issue now. My incisions have completely smoothed out and are all but undetectable! In my case, coming out of surgery, I had no visible stitches at all; all my stitches were internal in the classical pursestring method. I have a question, you mentioned that circumareolar incision was one of your options, are you having a lift done? Does your PS plan to do a pursestring suture? Or did you mean a periareolar incision? |

I don't know if I'm being totally insane for even considering this being done to me. Am I? Oh, as for the purse-string suture . . . don't remember him mentioning anything about it; but then again I didn't even think to ask! Another PS I consulted with said he could do silicone via the areolar incision, but that the incision would be a little bit more than half of my areolas. I honestly just feel as if I trust this other PS more (the one who wants to go all the way around; circumareolar). Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It really means a lot, and I really do feel a bit better about the circumareola incision. Where in the world did you find pics of circumareolar incision before/afters? Thx.

I had an incision around my entire areola for a few reasons - lift, tubular correction, and I had my areolas reduced. I know it is not pretty afterward, at least mine wasn't, but they have healed BEAUTIFULLY! All of the puckering went away and really what's left of my incision line fades in with my areola. Ask your PS for pictures of his patients who have had a circumareolar incision.

I just worry about the way MY body, MY skin, would react to such incisions. In fact, I feel pretty much the same about the other incisions: Worried. I'm such a mess!

::Hug:: I tried that a week ago, look at surgery videos, and I couldnt do it. The crease incision does not mess up your milk ducts and it is closer to where they would separate the muscle, it just seems more logical to me. Just try not to think about it. Mine is in 5 days now and I have finals on tuesday. Aint that a joke...my last weekend before my breast augmentation was spent doing homework...sad. I hope you are feeling better, im sorry those videos made you weak.

My clinic plays a video of a breast augmentation operation ... on a loop. Every time I go there, it's on, and I hate it. Even after the op, I don't want to see what happens! Stop watching You Tube. |

Videos like the ones on Youtube and a bad consult are what turned me off from doing my breast augmentation months ago. I just try to stay away from the videos and just read what I need to.

Between reading internet stuff and my microbiology class I'm in, I have become a total hypocondriak (sp?)! I love science, but some things I just would rather not know, like about bacteria. Now I'm freaked out about getting an infection, lol!

I thought the videos were traumatizing too....I guess that's why I was a little bruised! Anyway, I got my stiches out yesterday and I think my incisions look great. My skin is a little irritated from the tape, but all in all the incisions look awesome. Way better than I expected for only two weeks out. You can add me as a friend and see my pics if you want.

For years the thought of how its actually "done" grossed me out that even though I wanted it , it was just too gross to really consider.. then I thought how every operation is "gross" but preformed for reasons and then I just thought about the out come and knew I'd be out cold ![]() good luck to you

all surgeries can be freaky if you watch them. but i did a periareolar and i know that there is no scar. i have heard many of women who have said they don't have scars either. i don't blame you on the crease but my doc said that was the incision he was going to do if i did silicone this time. it's been over 5 months now and they are fading it just takes time. that was my worry when i had a c section too...i just didn't want to see it forever. but that scar is not visible anymore and i know in time as long as i continue to care for it, it will go away too.

There is NO WAY I could watch one! I'd rather just stick my head in the sand, say a prayer, and wake up with beautiful breasts! I am very squeemish about blood/operations/etc...I don't need to know how operations are performed, just that they are done in the hands of a trained surgeon and the results are good!

I went to see Dr. Soler-Baillo in Miami, Florida. He explined to me that there are several ways to put the implant in. Best way for saline is under the arm, due to the implant is empty and he does not have to cut any breast tissue. When you use a Silacone they are pre filled, so they have to cut.. Around the nipple or under the breast. Recovery time depends on you and where the incision is at. I'm having my breast augmentation tomorrow, I'm having saline and the incision is going to be under the arm, (like he said no scars and faster recovery...). The only problem I have is I don't know how many cc to put on. He recomended 300cc or 350cc, I'm 5'4 and weight 123-125 I'm a slender shape.. Well good luck and hopefully everything goes good.. Now who can help me on the size? |
